model of my brother's rally car...

Hmmm, not sure this belongs under the right topic...

In any case, I am an avid modeller and my brother is an avid rally racer... So, to his request, I built a 1/24 scale equivalent of his race car. I started from a tamiya EVO5 kit (well detailed) and built on that. Nothing great, just thought I could get some feedback from you all.

Cheers,
Stephane

Nice job!
Don't know what the Evo5 kits looks like outside the box but I like the detail on this model.

Looks great, where in ct are you from?

I am located a few miles from Storrs, where UCONN is...

Thanks for the nice comments.

that's awesome! I wish I had time to build models. just picking up the pre-built die-cast ones at the store is nowhere near as satisfying.

nice job!

Thank you guys! I really appreciate the nice input. By the way, I am willing to build models for anyone interested, as long as you provide the model, the paint and cover the shipping charges, I will do it for free as a fellow EVO enthusiast. Just send you paint scheme requests, etc...

Just contact me via email if you are interested.

I am also currently fighting the old debate: choosing between an STI and an EVO. My bro says go for the EVO, for technical and modding reasons, while I am thinking STI might be more reliable in the long run. Anyways, any input is appreciated...

looks really good, i dig the paint scheme :)

Hey Nick735,

Do you drive a black EVO? I have only seen a couple of EVOs in our area, and about 3 STIs...

nick735 Sep 30, 2004 06:03 AM

Yep its a black evo: helix exhaust, evo 7 tails, and evo 8 badge.

SurfguruJon311 Sep 30, 2004 07:27 AM

Nice model! And good luck to your brother!

nick735 Sep 30, 2004 07:54 AM

If your brother has the evo5 rally car local i would kill to see it :D

Well,

He lives and races in France... Sorry, I wish the car was local too... I am going there to visit in Nov. and he porimised me a ride! I can't wait! I will take more pics when that happens, I guess the car is far from stock: fuel cell, diffs, gearbox, motec engine management with bang system (anti lag), different electronics, clutch, cams, head, turbo, etc... He still wants more power and bigger brakes though... I guess I agree about the brakes.

I saw your EVO on campus. It is really clean! Congrats! I ride a yellow Duc 750SS when the weather is ok (yeah right), and I love our backroads here. So much fun and a lot of suicidal squirrels!

I should be in the market for an EVO in Dec. which leads me to my next question: I have test driven an EVO before, but not an STI. Have you tried an STI yet, and if so what did you think then and now, since you own an EVO? Thanks for you reply.

Steev
