"TARMAC BLACK" Evo owner's
I have a question for all you with black evo's. i have a red evo and in the process of saving up for an 06' and was wondering how the paint's holding up i.e. swirls chips dullness etc? i really really want to get a black evo i am so "set" with the idea but my red car suck's with stuff like that, i know no clear bla bla, but black is also not so great i heard but i love the purplish blue glow it has, i am so confused on this. any input would be appreciated. thanx{thumbup}

black is the most beautiful color for a car when polished out, it's also the ugliestwhen dirty. be prepared to spend lots of time cleaning your car, polishing and making sure you get all the water off. the mirrors, spoiler, trunk, and headlight areas all have lots of residual water left over, and you have to rewipe sometimes. i have had 3 b'ack vehicles in a row, and i think next car will be a lighter color.

Black is a nice color but mrbkkt1 is right. I wish I would have bought a lighter color but I did not have a choice since they gave me very good deal on their last Evo left on the lot & was really trying to get rid of it. If you have a lot of extra time for cleaning go ahead but if you are busy person look for a lighter color.

Black will be harder to take care of than your red (even though it is probably turning pink)

I love keeping my car clean. For me, I got black becuase after washing/waxing and detailing it, its one of those colors that looks awesome and you can see the effort of all your hard work. I know some people hate it, and I know it leaves a "film", but I use the Mr. Clean Auto Dry when Im not waxing or quick detailing. Never get any spots and dont need a towel. Some days I hate the black, but after getting a coat of wax on it, there just isnt a better color!

red pigment is the weakest. Will fade the quickest. My Tarmac shows swirls easy, but from 5 feet away, its the sweetest car around....and at nite, everybody raves about it.....I wish i could have found yellow.....
|
agree with what has been said above.black is hot.looks the best after a good waxing
|
When the black is clean it is the best looking under the lights. But when it rains lightly and you're on the road, every water speck shows up.Yes, the blue tint in the black is unique....Everyone suffers from the swirl marks. Some most than others.

my black shows lots of swirls, but there are definately things you can do about that. as far as chips go, got lots of those too but it's not the paints fault. catching rocks at 150+ will do that to any color. will always be the best looking color in my opinion.

any black car will swirl...but the mitsubishi paint doesnt help much. Just be sure to get some good glaze like Megs No 7 and a good wax and you will be fine. Black is a higher maintainence paint to keep up.
|
In my opinion, wax the crap out of it. I have noticed that maintenance on that black is reduced if you are loyal to a good wax. I am not the most disciplined wax person, but now i am. The Tarmac Black is just an amazing color when clean. my 2 1/2 cents!!

awesome thank's guy's.

I think it's all been said. I love black at night, it is by far the best color. The paint is not fading at all, but the swirl marks are so visible during the day, and scratches ar much more noticeable. But a freshly waxed Black Evo, will look way better than any other waxed evo. BUt maintenace is a b$#ch.
Anybody now how to get rid of swirl marks.....other than waxing it. Cause that gets rid of it until you wash it again. I was stupid enought NOT to use a shammy until 1 year after I got the car....I know....I am a dumb a$$ |
nothing can compare to black after it's been freshly waxed.
but that lasts for like 30 minutes. |
Black is like the nicest looking color at Night IMO, but it also has a bunch of swirls now, and it sucks seeing them at daytime, but i still love it. Though like everyone else says, it sucks trying to keep it clean, i wash my car once a week, and wax it once a month. When i first got it i would wash it like 3 times a week just to keep it clean, but heck as soon as i wash it and start drying it, there is already dust noticable on it
