Do not use Meguiar's leather wipes!!!!
I used them for the first time on my new EVO and I can't gid rid of the oily residue left behind. Then what I do manage to wipe off looks dull compared to the shiny spots I missed. I don't know if it's just because it is black leather or what. Anyone have a better suggestion :crap: .

I had similar experience. Unfortunately I wiped my steering wheel, and I had put on gloves to drive the car...

arent those wipes supposed to make the leather really shiny ? the wipes i use leave it slightly oily but i like it. fun ride for the person in the backseat w/o a seatbelt on.

Same thing here....I like the matte finish of the stock seats. I'd consider using a really mild cleaner wipe to get rid of the oil. Complete PITA. The Armor All leather wipes work well with no residue. Just make sure to use it on cool leather and not in the hot sun as it'll leave streak marks. You can take a soft towel and buff out the streak marks but best to do it in the late evening, early morning hours when the interior isn't hot. The sun and a/c seem to be slowly whittling away at the "shine" from the Meguiar's product. Definitely not what I expected from Meguiar's however.!

I contacted Meguiar's and gave them this link. I've asked them to advise what we can do to remove the shine and restore the matte finish to the leather and remove the slime from the seats. I'll report back when I hear something!

For a Matte finish on the seats, look into 303 Aerospace Protectant, Zaino Z-10, 4 Star Leather Conditioner, or Poorboy's Natural Look; I've had experience with all of them and use them on all my customer's car with leather.

Cool, thanks for the head's up Mitch. Got a phone call today from Meguiar's but unfortunately I was on assignment. We're playing phone tag at the moment. Glad someone took the time to call though.

Ok, talked to one of their tech guys (Tom) and he's sending out a cleaner for me to try. If it removes the shine and residue, I'll let you know. He's sending another conditioning product for me to try as well (in a small hidden spot first). Great customer service. I'm sure most know the "shine" disappears a bit with use but remains in the folds and seams of the leather. Hopefully this'll remove the shine and restore the "evenness" of the stock finish. He said it's very hard to match a product to the matte leathers unfortunately.

I used it on my car and it turned my grey leather black for a few weeks. Good luck with yours...it will be fine after the oil evaporate off.

i havent really had to "clean" the leather yet but whenever i wash my car i always go over the leather with armorall wipes i think they are in a tall pastic container with brown writing? whatever they look like ive been happy with the way it leaves the seats looking. its not a deep clean like some may be, but probobly what you were looking for since you said they were wipes
