How reliable are EVO's?

Since this will be my only means of transportation; Could I call this car reliable? I'm a bit worried since I 've never owned a Mitsu. I really want an evo but I really need to make sure I'm making the right choice. I want to make sure it's going to take me to school and work with no hassles. Hopefully sometime this week or next week i will be a pround owner of an evo IX.Thanks everyone.

In terms of reliability---------

It's reliable out of the box. When you start modding, your gonna feel the pain.

my nine has never given me trouble in 10k miles.......if you do the maint. and take care of the car it will be fine

If you dont eff with everything you wont have a problem. theyre normal cars until you go past the basic mods. TBE, Flash arent going to ruin the car. Be Easy

I think its all about how u drive it...

One simple rule......

KEEP

IT

SIMPLE

The more simple your setup the more reliable and more fun the car will be. I have intake, cams, full exhaust, boost contorller, twin disk clutch, and a reflash. I have almost 60,000 miles on my 03' and the only thing I've had to do to it was replace the clutch. Many people get many many many miles out of the stocker if you can keep the power to a minimal and don't visit the drag strip.

The more power you make and more often you abuse it, the less reliable any car will be.

+1 Ive got an 03 that i just bought in July and no problems so far. Just do like everyone is saying. Dont do anything to crazy if your gonna mod it. TBE, MBC, and flash is all (besides clutch) i plan on doing to the engine. After that coilovers and rear sway bar and call it done. I plan on buying another car to use as a project/track car. Also i baby it for the most part. Just drive it like a normal car and it will last you like a normal car.

I had a supra before before I had my evo and it had more mods than my evo does, and my evo has more noises and more issues than my 10 year old supra that I had bought used. I had a single turbo monster supra and that thing was solid.. I regret the day I sold it. money does talk though... Some day I will get another one. Don't get me wrong I love the evo and the awd and hope to soon make it a monster but I wish it was put together well like my toyota supra was.. here is a pic for the show and shine section...
