Cost of painting stock Enkei's
Hey guys, just wondering if anyone on here decided to paint their Enkei's instead of getting new wheels. I am considering getting them done in black and powdercoated so my '03 TB Evo can have the "stealth" look.
How much would it typically cost to get the wheels sanded, painted, and powdercoated? Thanks for the feedback. |
me and a lot of people i know just spray painted ours...have to sand etc..come out nice and the paint doesnt peel or chip..
one guy i know paid i think $75 for his wheels to get powdercoated drove about 35mins to show us and already had a chip mark... i would suggest spray paint.just sand them down..use the gloss paint they have at walmart...white can with black lid...comes out very nice |
Painted my own, came out alot better than I thought. Flat black looks better than gloss black, IMO

do it on your own... here are some of mine i did on my own... ive dont like 4 sets.

dont paint powder coat...
|
Don't powder coat... paint. The powder coat process can f up your wheels to the point that if your running on a track they can break.
Just get some Rustoleum, sandpaper and spend a day doing it yourself. |
how in the hell did you come up with the theory that powdercoating will break your wheels? powdercoating is definitely more durable than spray painting.

Sure, for a street car, you prolly won't have to worry about it. But why risk it? Also, rattle can jobs come out JUST AS GOOD, and if you get sick of it or want something different, another couple cans and a day is all it takes. |
Ive painted many wheels.. do it right and it will last! Powder coating costs up here is $90 a wheel.. So I spent about $20 and painted mine..
I chose gloss black and a gloss red.. Then clear coated also.. Flat black just looks like a wheel covered in brake dust IMO.. http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e9...ix/Mywheel.jpg |

Some powdercoaters use high temp and that can produce microcracks in your wheels. If they use a low temp it should be ok
