What's your favorite Zaino combo?

I've seen a lot of members on the board praising Zaino, and I'd like to switch over to that as well. However I'm puzzled on which one to use as there're so many Zaino products out there. Can you Zaino experts give me some advise on what is your favorite Zaino combo or what's the best combo you think?

Thanks!

Also, I've seen people applying 3, 5, and even 7 coats of Zaino on their car, how long does a bottle last (normally)?

Basically you want to apply Z5 and Z2 in that order--most of the professionals actually advise you to do a combination of the two together. More Z5 in the mixture for darker colors and more Z2 in the mixture for lighter colors.

Also get some spray (either Z6 or Z7) to clean the car in between coats and washes.

ZFX is also a great time saver because if you use it you don't have to wait ~12 hours inbetween coats--you can just go from one coat to the next consecutively.

Really appreciate your response, so base on my understanding, here's the procedure to use the products:

Step 1: Use Z7 for car wash
Step 2: Use Z5 + ZFX to wax (scratch removal)
Step 3: Use Z2 + ZFX to wax again (shine)
(Repeat Step 2 & 3)

Please advise if I miss something here.

Thanks again!

Yea you pretty much got it. Just start with that since you are a beginner. There little tricks you can do with Zaino that you can execute once you learn the basics. :)

That's pretty much it. But on the very first time before you put on Zaino, they recommend using Dawn dishwashing liquid to wash your car, and use claybar to remove any minor stuff on the surface. You can also get the Z6, that stuff works pretty well too.

Actually if you go to their website, in the tips section you'll find a lot of info.

Hey guys, thanks for the confirmation.

Yeah, I read about that too, but I was a bit concern about the dishwashing liquid part... from day one I was told that's a big no no for car wash...

You shouldn't use dawn to wash your car all the time, just use it that first time when you want to put on the zaino. It'll clean the surface real good and shouldn't cause any problem to the paint.

Cool, let me give that a try. Thanks again! :)

My Zaino procedure:

1. Wash w/ dawn (this removes oils and waxes on the car)
2. Claybar with Z-18
3. Wash w/ Z-7
4. Layer of Z-1, wait til dry
5. Layer of Z-5
6. Repeat layers of Z-5 until you can't see swirls in bright sunlight. Z-2 will bring out swirls if they're there, so error on the side of too many layers - more layers don't hurt! I typically do 3 layers of Z-5 on my silver car, if you have a black or blue I'd go with 5, red or yellow 4, white or silver 3.
7. Layer of Z-2. Repeat as many times as you want. I usually put 2-3 layers of Z-2 on.
8. Wash the car with Z-7, spray with Z-9. If it doesn't look incredible, you probably did something wrong ;)

- After wiping the layers off with a 100% cotton towel, you should use your Z-9 spray. Z-9 the car again before you put the next layer down.
- Always wash the car with Z-7. No power washes, not laser washes, only hand washes with a good natural sponge and Z-7.
- I'm still a bit confused on 1 & 2 - You might have better luck flipping them (claybar, then dawn wash). Not sure though.

Oh, that's the non-ZFX method. ZFX eliminates step 4 along with a lot of waiting. You also don't need to spray with Z-9 since you're not letting the car sit.

This is another area I've probably screwed up on in the past - I've used way too much. If you're using Z-FX, the little bottles are pretty handy. If you fill it about 2/3 full, then add 7-8 drops of Z-FX, that should be the right amount for a layer of either Z-5 or Z-2 on an Evo. I always put probably twice that much on, and it took forever to dry.

I also recommend using Z-6 between each and every coat of Z-2 and Z-5.

Yeah, Z-6 spray... not Z-9 (leather cleaner I think). :D

I read some other thread where they say our cars don't have clearcoats, specifically red (which I have). So for a polish, do I use Z-2 for clear-coated cars or Z-3?
