cutoff using HID's in evo 9 gsr non HID housings?
Hey evom, im just wondering what the cutoff pattern of the low beams would be if i used HID's in the oem evo 9 gsr non HID housings. Anyone have any experience with this? Just dont want to ruin the nice cutoff by putting an HID kit in. Oh and yes i have searched and couldnt find a definite answer to this. Thanks everyone

ideally it would be the same as the halogens. might not be as sharp as the hid projectors but it should be plenty sharp to not piss off other drivers and have a proper cutoff

Reflector inside projector is different so cutoff won't be as sharp. Light will also leak up above the cutoff and glare. Not recommended but everyone has their own idea of tolerable. It's also harder to get a good color match or proper intensity with rebased bulbs. Your visibility might even be diminished based on what Kelvin your bulbs end up being. Take a look on the forums at www.hidplanet.com. Lots of good information regarding this topic there.
Ideally you'll want to get the proper housings or retrofit your existing housings with proper HID projectors. TRS (www.theretrofitsource.com) is a good vendor to purchase these from. I've purchased retro parts from them many times without issue. |
Someone installed HID's in my gsr before i bought it. When i found out i had non hid projectors I switched back to halogen. Didn't notice any difference in light output and the cutoff line looked the same as before so I don't think its a problem at all.
