My WW Evo 8's Progression

Hey everyone,

Welp I'm definitely not new to these forums... I just don't post too much, But I figured I would make my own thread about my car thus far since I've spent the last few years reading so many of yours!

I picked up my 2005 Wicked White Evo 8 in early December 2013 as a early birthday present to myself (21 {thumbup}). Had about 124k on the odometer. Purchased from Bell Mitsubishi in Rahway, NJ.

The car had minor mods. Consisting of...
  • Greddy Type RS Blow Off Valve
  • Injen's Full Intercooler Pipe Kit
  • Hallman Boost Controller
  • Helix Turbo Back Exhaust
  • Injen Intake

So, I had torn head off with the help of Lou from Procom Racing and sent it out.

Got it back, Seats redone and Decked.

Did a Manley valvetrain to replace the worn OEM stuff.

Also decided to have some fun with the car while she was down.
So I had Lou fabricate some short route piping and a front mount for me, Chopped the nose off of my 8 bumper. Picked up some EVO X GSR Wheels too!

( I have D2 Coils on the car, just didn't take any pics when I installed them :( )

Also didn't take many pictures during the fabrication process :( {thumbdwn}:crap:

Bent valves suck!! Same happened to me...just not as bad per the posted picture of the timing belt missing like 10 teeth...

So right now the car is out getting a head job? Might as well do the timing job as well since you're in there. You may want to consider new ARP head studs for peace of mind. Check all coolant lines and vacuum lines now....with the head off...you have all the room in the world. I gave the car a once over and ended up replacing a few worn parts while the head was off. Clean off the block where the head gasket goes as best as possible...run our finger over the block to check for smoothness and any imperfections. Sorry if you already know all of this...just trying to help ya out! Looks like you are good to go if you made it this far!

GL and keep us posted on your progress!

Good looking WW Evo!!!

This is how the car sits as of today!

Awaiting my nose chopped bumper and JDM rear to return from paint.
Need to pick up the Whiteline bumpsteer kit
& a 24mm rear sway bar next week

and then corner balance/align the car.

Want to say thanks to Lou at Procom Racing for getting my car back together as quickly as he did!

And thanks for reading!!

Thank you!! I just finished up the car on Friday actually, I did all of the pulleys, belt, tensioner, etc... along with the Balance shaft belt too. Replaced a few lines, The block where the head meets was pristine before the head gasket/head went on!

I appreciate the help though!

Absolutely gorgeous! What do you plan on doing now?

Cal City Evo Aug 6, 2014 06:26 PM

Damned that thing is CLEAN for an East coast car! Where are you hiding all the rust???

Now that is what I call a timing belt failure HAHA! Looked like a stock one that had never been done!

Glad you are getting it road worthy again!

I've got a Tomei heat shield coming on Monday, I've got my JDM rear and front nose chopped bumper getting paint now. Going to do some Whiteline goodies too. (Rear sway, Rear control arm bushings, Bumpsteer/Antilift kit). and then tune it on speed density!
