Bumpstops for Swift/Bilstein

I'll be replacing my stock springs/struts for Bilstein HD/Swift Spec R combo. Do I just reuse the bumpstops off of my stock KYB's or is there an upgrade that is recommended?

IIRC you can shorten the Bilstein bump stops. Mine have been cut.

There might be a replacement piece out there though.

I've read through numerous threads about this and most say keep the stock bump stops or cut the attached boot off of them.

Personally I've always run Koni bumpstops on past cars with great results but the majority say it's not necessary.

I'll be installing the same setup, minus the HD's, I'll be using a revalved/rebuilt set of OEM shock/struts.

Good luck.

Are you referring to MR or HD? I purchased brand new Bilstein HD which didn't come with bumpstops. Were they supposed to?

You'll be using Koni bumpstops on yours? Would you happen to know the part number?

Oh ****, my mistake. I was referring to the MR (which I thought was the HD) buy maybe they are interchangeable? You could pick up some MR stops and modify them.

What did Bilstein have to say about the bump stops?

I haven't contacted them.

Do the bumpstops even need to be upgraded? If not I'll just stick with stock.

I did find the Koni bumpstops though in case anyone finds this thread in a search and would be interested: http://www.koniracing.com/bumpstops.cfm

Just installed my re-valved Bilsteins with Swift Spec-R's. I ordered all new parts from the factory to include all bolts, bushings, bumpstops, nuts, etc.

I've had it on for a day and a half now, all driving has been done around town, so very bumpy streets, potholes, etc and I haven't bottomed out once or compressed to the stop bumpstop.

I'd say still with the stock pieces, they're not that much larger than the koni's once you remove the dust boot and get your hands on them.

I'm running the same setup on my car and using factory bumpstops on mine. Factory ones work as they are designed no need to get different ones in my opinion.
