wheel bearing question
i have a loud roaring noise that gets progressively worse at speed. sound wont go away by dropping to neutral. mechanic and i confirmed, noise will go away when turning left only (noise stays turning right or straight). side-to-side and in-and-out wheel play is nill.
anyone else get wheel bearing noise without wheel play? noise seems to be coming from front left, though i am suspecting it could be front right side because of past front right impact.

There's been a ton of posting about wheel bearing problems. The other day I was driving and I'd turn and hear a dull roar. Then I'd turn the other way and same thing. Oh oh, I thought, I've got a wheel bearing problem too.
Then I got to thinking about my tires, REO1R's, and how the OEM tires got noisy as they wore. Well, I decided the same thing is happening again. I guess it is the nature of high performance tires. I am not saying this is the answer here but it may be the answer to some of the noises owners are having trouble diagnosing

My right front wheel bearing started making noises very quickly. In like two days it went from no noise to a loud howling. There was no play in the wheel whatsoever. After going with my gut feeling and changing it out, it cured the problem. Good luck. I had a ***** of a time getting my hub separated.

yeah it has to be wheel bearings (i think) since it sound disappears on left turns. i bought two bearings, hopefully it fixes the issue
yeah my car has 120k miles so no warranty. and yeah i originally thought it was tire noise but as said , tire noise wouldnt completely disappear on left turns.

i bought two low mileage 9 used bearings. they spin noise-free and smoothly. i was expecting them it to spin freely like a rollerblade but it spun smooth but heavily. kinda felt like the packed grease was thick as hell. as said zero noise.
is this normal?

Funny thing is on left handturns it is usually the right side. Opposite of what people would think.
