I've been holding off due to my RS-3's still having tread life, but I am concerned about the 4's reported smaller overall diameter in 255/40.

I've been running the new RS-4 245/40/18 for the past month. Lateral grip is significantly better than the RS-3s in wet and dry, braking stability and power is also increased marginally. Wear seems good for 200 rated rubber so far - only 1500 miles. Road noise is about the same. They feel like they are going to be a fun tyre for the road and track this summer.

Reviews have been favorable. They are said to tolerate heat well. I planned to get some, but found NT01s for only $80 more.
Still may get some.

A local autocrosser has said great things about them. He also does track days as well and uses it hem as daily tires. If you want a softer and sticker tire he said stick with the RE71R or Rival S 1.5. The RS-4 does have or shows better tread wear. When the RS-4 came out it was cheaper than the RE71R& Rival. Like others above have stated it's getting great reviews.
