Trying to remove axle from rear hub

I was able to remove my driver rear axle from the rear diff but it's still stuck on the hub part. I took the big bolt off but the axle won't budge. Anything special I need to do to remove it?

Thanks

Rubber mallet. Can soak it in penetrating oil as well. On the diff side there is a metal retaining clip on the shaft in the diff housing. Slide hammer or just brute force.

Its most likely seized in the hub due to rust. Since you have the other end already disconnected you will need to smack it hard to release it. I used a piece of wood placed over the end of the axle. Then hit the wood with a large hammer.

I got it off. I had to rent a axle puller tool from autozone(link of the item below). I had to use a small 4 pound sledge looking hammer and smack the crap out of it. The rental tool is toast now but it got it off. Penetrating oil did nothing. It won't seep deep enough where the axle and hub spline together.
