Replacement struts

So my current DD/beater evo needs some new struts/shocks badly.

Awesometastic part is I can't find anything other than bilstein front struts at retarded money a piece.

Are there no options for stock replacement struts for the evo 8-9?

i just recently upgraded my suspension from the stock KYB's and 11 year old Tanabe springs to Bilstein B8's and Swift Spec-rs and loving it so far. I got the B8's through tirerack, i think front and rear was about $900.

damn so at that point, why not just go coilover? Im on the same boat as you. Im researching for coilover and consensus leads to Ohlins which is over $2k... Im looking for alternative as well.

I don't have a need/desire for coilovers. This is my DD, rain/snow/sunshine it gets driven. I take my 1.5year old son in it quite frequently. I don't need it loud or rough riding, and don't care about ripping up the turns. I save that for my road race car.

I put Bilstein's on my duramax for not much more than it costs for 1 front strut for the evo lol.

But, I guess there is no other option.

Call your local Tirerack and see if they can pricematch, or get close, on a set of Bilstein B6 HD for your evo. Also ask what exactly the Bilstein Limited Lifetime warranty covers, and that if you buy them through Tirerack will they replace/handle a warranty claim for you if needed.

Buying 'local' could save you some headaches down the road. Just keep that receipt

I would just find a set of coilovers in the $800-$1,200 range. They aren't going to be track spec, but there isn't a need for a daily driver. You're going to pay $700+ for Bilstein struts alone unless you can find them used, and you'll likely have to rebuild anything you buy used.

I swapped in D2 Racing RS coilovers and have been very pleased with the ride. Much more refined than OEM with Swift springs (my last set up), but not overly aggressive, and of course adjustability.
