have they been known to emit noise of any type under braking, like a metallic popping noise?

Not sure if the Mitsu's have this problem, but my early 90's Acura would emit a clicking noise from the ABS Solenoids when first turned on. It would go away after the car warmed up. I've never heard the brake booster make a sound in any of the Mitsu's I've owned.

Good Luck

on occasion I get a loud click/pop from the same area when the car starts up. its a quick sound, not recurring.

then a very similar sound can be heard under soft braking and when accelerating - about when the clutch is 85% out. I thought it was brake pad shift but I think Im wrong the more I hear it.

Ive been trying to track down this sound for 2 months now...definately not normal - my brothers same year 06 MR does not do it nor did his 05 do it.

the brake booster is the only thing the master cylinder is attatched to. brake booster takes vacuum from the intake thus giving you power brakes.......
