tire recommendation

hey, looking for some new tires for my evo viii gsr, and the most important things to me are handling and tread life. road noise is no big deal, and i wont be driving it that much in the snow either, although a bit of handling in the winter time would be nice.
can anyone recommend tires that they've had experience with? i am using the stock enkei 17" rims.
thanks!

If you're looking for an all-season tire that performs well, there are several choices. Of course none of these tires will give you the performance that summer only tires can offer.

Michelin Pilot Sport A/S
Toyo Proxes 4
Continental ContiExtreme Contact
Pirelli PZero Nero M+S
Yokohama Advan S4

Just shop around and you could always ask Neal from TireRack.

If you're going to be driving at ALL in the winter, that narrows down your choices a bunch. Either prepare to swap tires out for the seasons, or get an all-season high performance tire. Myself, I have Potenza S03s for summer and Dunlop Winter Sport M3s for winter. The winter tires absolutely rock, even in the spring time when it's dry they hold the road well. The Potenzas are a great tire as well, TONS of grip (very high price though and possibly disco'd), but they don't wear well. I've gotten a good number of miles out of them (this is their 3rd summer), but right now they are extremely loud as the tread wears down.

Handling and tread life...I make a sacrifice on tread life for handling. On my second set of Neova's. I've ran PZero Nero M+S's on my subies a few times and was pretty happy with them consider the tire.

Two sets of tires is the best bet. A good allseason or winter tire on stock rims. Then pick out a wheel you like and get some sticky tires. Or two sets of stock wheels one with A046's and one with winter/allseason's.

Advans are summer only tires. They get extremely hard at temps under 40F. Definitely not something you want during the cold season.

RT615 = Falken tires. Supposed to be their cream of the crop summer only hi-po tires.

10k for you on the A046 could be the norm. Some people have worn them in 10k, others have seen 20k. It all depends on your driving, and your weather. Its cold and rainy where I live, tires last a bit longer than when I lived in Arkansas.
