How much heavier are the Giro Disc's than the Baer's?

Is this true, because that would make it really hard for them to keep their no warping or cracking warranty where they replace the rotor? I really want these rotors but if they can't warranty them anymore, what is the point?

I will call Baer and ask them regarding warranty, replacement parts before I do the install. I also am looking for places to get the Rotors cryoed before I install them.... if anyone can give me a referral it'll be greatly appreciated

Not exactly true. If I remember correctly the front Baers are lighter than the Giro's but the rear Giro's are lighter than the Baer's. I will dig up the thread if I can.

Edit - Just checked my records -

Baer Front 15.80
Giro Front 17.4

Baer Rear 11.66
Giro Rear 11.1

The rotors your referring to are designed to work with Stoptech's Big Brake Kit. Stoptech has yet to release their 2 piece direct replacement rotors for the stock Brembo calipers.

Do most pads work well with any of those three rotors or do each rotor require a certain brand of pads to work at its best?

I think most pads will work, just get the pads you think would best match your style of driving. For me since I'm a street/highway guy I just went with the Porterfield R4S all around...

+2 for Giro

I have heard the same comments about cross drilled rotors and have also seen the cracks that form around the holes -

go for the slotted rotors and call it a wrap!

they should all work for you, but will the vendor work for you is also a consideration? I have Girodiscs, Martin's support with a brake issue (unrelated to the discs) was fabulous! It's nice to know that you're not just buying from a clearing house at a cheap price, but from a vendor that will back the product and help you through any issues you might have.

Performance Friction FTW... If they are good enough for F1 cars... they're good enough for the evo!!!

I Own the GiroDisc rotors. If you are going to drag race, they are great due to the ultra-low weight.

If you are going to road race or autocross, Performance Friction all the way!

Sorry I do not condone highway racing.

But I can tell you that 140-90 at the end of the back straight at Sebring was no problem with the GiroDiscs and a $425 set of Carbotech XP12f/XP10r pads.

Long-term though the Performance Friction is a better rotor.

I had the Baer eradispeed 2 piece rotors with hawk hps pads on my 03 8 and loved them.
