Seriously, if you have factory lugs that you dont care about just cut them. Pop in vice cutoff wheel and go to town. I think it took me like 15 minutes from start to finish for 20 nuts. And yeah it sounds sketchy at first but once you realize how thin the cap really is when you touch it with the cutoff wheel and it just like falls off you'll understand where Im coming from.

But then there is bare metal on the lug that can rust and look terrible lol

That is true, you've got me there. Although I will say after rocking them for a few winters they held up fine in the worst conditions possible aka moisture and salt. Did I see some specs of surface rust on the portion that I cut, sure but its not like they looked super rusty.
It's a great option if youre in a pinch or just don't care about what your lug nuts look like but want it to work. Or find some open ended Toyotas. You could probably find suitable replacements at a NAPA or almost guaranteed to find them at the stealership but meh those places suck.

Just thinking out loud here, the Dorman 611-168 look like the right lug entirely, but since they are only zinc plated, they will become oxidized over time. I have a local chromer who can quality chrome plate them for cheap. Will they need to strip the Zinc coating before that ?

Assuming someone has already answered, but just in case: Dorman makes an open/shank lug nut, for Toyota/Lexus, that fits. I can't, for the life of me, find the receipt for mine. I can't remember where I got them.

The Zinc finish might suck over time though so I need to take preventative measures.

Yeah, I found that the closest thing to those discontinued Toyota/Lexus lugs were these: Dorman 611-168

The ones in my link are wrong? I wish I could find my order form. The ones I got are chrome so no worries on finish.

No worries, I think they are open. Did a few ebay searches and came up with some real life pictures. I'll post a picture comparing both these lug nuts to the oem ones to see how close they are in mag seat and length. This way if anybody in the future want to run ARP extended studs with spacers on oem wheels, they will have a quick answer from this thread....freakin toyota lol
