What have you done to stop Brake Squeal? No opinions, please!! FACTs ONLY!!
Hi Evolutionm!
I'm new to posting, but I'm not new to EVO 8 as I own one. I understand brake squeal is not a new topic as many people have gone through what i have gone through. I believe I have done enough (or more than enough) searching. My ears are irritated enough for 6 straight months of hearing the squeals on every light press of brake below 35 mph. I have tried this and that, tried OEM pads and HAWKs, added grease to back plate of the brake pads, added shims, bedded-in... how about bedding-in 3 to 4 times in a roll... I have tried them, my legs were tired. The squeal never went away. The better the bed-ins were done, the louder the squeal came back. I even cut off the Brake wear indicator, the squeal just never went away. I have searched through this site and the web on earth, it seems people with my problem have gone through different branded pads, Magic pads, EBC with DBA rotors, Hawks.... all of these are possible to create squeal. I could keep trying different things, but I would end up poor because each time to try new pads or rotors, couple hundreds of bucks are washed away!!! Why brembo has to create brakes calipers like ours.
I created this thread is not to hear opinion of what to do to fix it. I have searched enough opinions already. Tons of opinions out there, I don't need yours here. But what I need here is "WHAT YOU HAVE DONE TO REMOVE THE SQUEAL"??? --if your brake squeal had been there, and went away. I hope this thread can help thousands of people out there.
Here is a sample template (not real) that you could use when respond:
Previous Rotor: Stock
Miles on Rotors: 12000 miles
Previous Brake Pads: OEM stock
Miles on Rotors: 32000 miles
--------------------------------------------
New Rotors: No change
New Brake Pads: Magic Pads from GiroDisc
What else did I do: Added shims, sanded the rotors using 120 grit paper.
Thanks,
Andrew

First dude relax.
Everybody will have different experiences so you'll just have to try everything
I was on stock rotors with 12000 miles
stock pads: no squeel
Ferodo ds2500: lot's of sqeel
Giro disc brake shims with grease
No more squeel
fast forward
28000 miles stock rotor
new set ferodo ds2500: old giro disc shims: squeel not lots, but enough to be annoying
Now
29000 miles DBA 4000 Rotors
same set of ferodo ds2500 with same old giro disc shims: very little squeel, but still have it
I'm about to have a track day and will switch the pads aftrwards
I ordered new giro disc shims and it seems they have changed them so i'll see how they work.

there is no definite way to fix brake squeak/squeal since alot of variables can play into it. Its trial and error. Try some recommended methods and see what works for you. And seriously chill out.

Re-read my post. and use this template next time. If you need English assistance, go back to High school.

Yeah you're going to warm the hearts of everyone here with that attitude. They're going to flock to this thread to help you.
Previous Rotor: Stock
Miles on Rotors: 15000 miles
Previous Brake Pads: OEM stock
Miles on Rotors: ???? - Seems Redundant.
--------------------------------------------
New Rotors: Racingbrake One piece
New Brake Pads: Hawk HPS
What else did I do: Mitsu dealer installed, I made sure to tell them to reuse the stock shims off the OEM pads in addtion to whatever came with the Hawks. No squealing, ever.
You're welcome.

What else did I do: Did a search. By doing the search, I found out that by using anti-squeal lubricant as well as properly bedding in my pads seemed to do the trick.
That better?
Maybe I'll just add a "How To" on how to remove sticks from people's asses on the internet.

smike is one of the most knowledgeable evo guys on here, so i would be careful before brushing him off like that. ^^ you will not get as much help responding like that. i changed from stock pads and rotors to rotorpro rotors and hps pads. bedded them in myself, greased the pads and re-used the old shims. a little noise at high speeds but no squeal. gl with your troubles
