Not much to it....just replace the hardware while you're already in there, and adjust the spindle as needed.

I have mine set to GRAB on the first click of the e brake....all preference.

Parking brake answers

Pads I got on ebay centric along with the small parts kit
You have to remove the rotors for the easiest job...replacement is kind of a pain in the *** but easy job once you do it. The adjuster is on the bottom and I replaced all 4 pads and rotors and parking brake pads also.. I did adjust them up to the point where you can get the rotors on without drama. You will know when it's too tight because the rotor won't go on, then back it off a bit. I would suggest the small parts kit because some of your springs may get worn and the pads retainers may break if your not careful. Be patient when doing it. I thought I was going to flip out trying to put the pad retainers on.
Now I have fresh brakes. Slotted rotors and a working parking brake

Slotted rotors, hawk hp plus. Super noisy but crazy stopping power. I can activate abs in the dry very easily.

What is the next step when the rotors have been taken off? Do I have to take off the hub nut and the hub? It looks like it have to go off to get space for working? How do I get it off?

^ Once you remove the rear rotors, the parking brake hardware is right there (someone posted a diagram of the hardware with rotor removed). You can adjust it without taking off the rotor but if you are replacing the hardware, then yes, you must remove the rotor.

You do not need to remove the hub assembly.

I've never removed the rotors.

I've just taken off that rubber bung and used a flat blade to turn that spike adjuster.

POWERSTROKE - Here is the diagram of the rear brake rotors/brake pads removal/install instructions...

This will help you.

Damn...it wont let me attach the pdf because I just attached it to another related thread.. I'll try it another way.

POST #3 in this thread is the diagram I'm referring to.

the brake slack adjuster which is behind the rubber grommet
which direction expands the brake pads to tighten the lever and compensate for wear
do you use the screwdriver to push in or out?

i did a complete brake overhaul and forgot so i can finish final brake adjustments
it could use a bit more adjusting

Just turn it either way and if i gets stuck or too tight thats the right way. Then back it off to your liking. Dont leave it dragging/too tight or you will have issues

For some reason no matter what I do, I can't get the parking brake to engage on the first click. It always goes to about 4 clicks before it starts grabbing.
The car only has 30k miles on it so I doubt the pads could be worn out. I adjusted them so that I had to back it off one turn before the rotors would go back on, yet no change in ebrake level engagement point..... Any suggestions?

I think 4-5 clicks is normal per spec for parking brake lever travel.
