Running different size tire- will this work?

Forgive me if this is a terribly stupid question but for whatever reason, I can't seem to find an answer.

I'm able to score a brand new set of 225-50-17 tires but I'm not so certain they will work, without any negative effects. The tires are dismounted from the wheels so I can't really tell if I will have any rubbing issues or any other issues. I can pick these up for next to nothing and was trying to decide if these will work.

They will be used on a daily driven, stock suspension Evolution VIII with the factory 17x8 Enkei wheels.

Here are the tires in question.

Cliff Notes
I have good tread left on my tires (6/32) but I can pick up a cheap set of Michelin's, that are the wrong size. Just want to get opinions if they work.

So, apparently after *searching* I found that running 225s aren't my best option.

Mods, if necessary, this can be locked.
