I'm actually looking for that size as well. I have found quite a few options. Though they are expensive.

SSR Comps and some various advans and wedsports. There's a link a few post or pages back that had some good links on it.

thanx.
i know many ppl seem to use FN01R-C but when i search on discounttire.com for stock size evo wheels, those wheels don't come up any ideas why they wouldn't be recommended? i think i'll prolly get 17x8, and a narrower blizzak tire. can anyone confirm FN01R-C in 17x8 and what offset fits the car? i can't seem to find anything conclusive in other threads. thanx ppl.

FYI, the OEM Enkei wheels have an offset of +38mm, so anything above that will almost surely need a spacer. If you look at how close the wheel is to hitting the front brake caliper you will see that is true.

I run Rota Slipstreams in a +35mm offset, 114.3 bolt pattern on 255/40 tires with no problems.

I just went to discount tire and searched for 17" wheels that fit the evo. Several were 17x7's.

thanks for the feedback guys. yea i've looked on discounttire before, but i just kinda liked the design of FN01 better. in the end i decided to get 17x8 so that i can use them in the summer too with stock sized tires at a later time. i ended up getting a set of FN01C from www.edgeracing.com where they list 17x8 with 25 offset as one of the rims for the Evo (i also checked with them on the fone). i just got the packages yesterday and have tried one of the wheels on. it clears the brakes just fine, but does stick out about 7mm beyond the fender when that corner is jacked up (no tire on it, full shock extension). so i'm gonna wait till next weekend when i mount some blizzaks on them. edgeracing guarantees fitment and no rubbing, so if anything, i'll work it out with them.

will post updates.

Ok im probably buying the work emotions...they are the 17X8's and i think they only come 47mm offset in this size does that mean that my tires will have to be super think with a wide profile?

Size/offset: 17x7 5-100/114 40
Price: ~140$/wheel from Discount Tire

These are a 5 spoke design. I was surprised that a 17x7 wheel fits, but it does. Clears calipers by a mm or so. I drove around with the windows down to make sure it wasn't rubbing when turning or braking.

I'll add some weight info as well. On my bathroom digital scale, the stock Enkeis with ~60% worn advans and lots of brake dust weighed 44 lbs (no lug nuts). The Enkei RS-5 with brand new 235 45 17 Falken Z1-EX all seasons weighed 43 lbs.

Here is a pic on my car:

<edit>
Per jbrennan's post here is more info:
Hubcentric rings were required and provided by DiscountTire in my case. Also provided were gorilla lug nuts.

Take care,

FB

Why in the world would you put 17x7 on an evo?? stock already 17x8, the wider the better.

47mm offset will not fit the Evo. The wheels will hit the calipers, no good The only way you can make them fit is to get at a minimum, a 9 mm spacer. The stock wheels are 38mm offset. With that spacer though you will also need longer wheel studs.

my reason was, to run narrower winter tires for better traction in the snow. but i ended up getting 17x8 anyway, because i figured i can use that set during any season this way, for say track-only tires.

Most likely no Like I said before the stock Enkeis are 38mm offset and if you look at the wheel to caliper clearance, you'll see that they are barely missing each other. You will most likely need a 2mm spacer. As far as the wheel studs, you may be able to use the OEM with the 2mm spacer, but I am not 100% sure.

There's so much variation in spoke geometry, it's virtually impossible to generalize about offsets and caliper clearance. With those wheels, you might not need a spacer at all, or you might need a 6mm spacer (or bigger). The proposed 2mm spacer would only be correct if the spoke geometry is similar to the stock wheels -- which usually is not true.

Unless you have a money tree growing the backyard, I would make damn sure the wheels fit prior to purchasing them. I am not a self proclaimed wheel expert so I can not say for sure. jbrennen seems to have more knowledge concerning wheels they I do
