I am looking at picking up some Work Emotions T7R in the 18x9 setup for my Evo 9. Im curious as to see whats the most optimal setup for a performance standpoint. I'm currently on swift springs with no rolling/pulling work done, but I will eventually go to coil-overs. What kind of offset would you recommend and tire size? I'm trying to avoid pulling but I don't mind rolling if its required. Also, would that wheel setup be too aggressive if I put some winter tires on it? Or should I just buy some 17's and run winter tires on that?

Curious to see what you guys will recommend.

Cheers,
Russ

Hey Russ

Yeah, this question gets asked frequently. Theres no exact answer but generally speaking, I feel the range falls into this:

17x8 to 17x9 w/an offset range of +34 to +38 (tire size 255/40)
18x8 to 18x9 w/an offset range of +34 to +38 (tire size 255/35)

If you find an exact size you want, post up here & I can run it on the calculator to give you a better idea of the fit

Regarding the winter tires, it would be great to get those mounted to some 17's & leave your 18's for the spring / summer & fall work

Hey Joe,

It seems that the noob me didn't do enough research because they don't offer an 18x9 setup. Only 18x8.5 or 18x9.5.

Which way should I swing? 8.5 or 9.5? Also, would fender/spacers be required for this type of work?

Well, the 8.5" in the +30 would be a good choice & better looking than the +38. You could run a 255/35 tire on that wheel, but a rear roll would be needed at a standard rear camber setting
Most anything in the 9.5" variety, except for the +38 would need a rear roll. If you would consider the 18x9.5 +30, this would need a slight rear pull & possible rear bumper bolt relocation (depending on tire size)

Now, I am not familar w/this wheel but a front spacer is more likely than not. (did a quick forum search on the T7R & got no hits).

Was wondering if someone knew from the looks of what the offset is. This is Works CR Kai wheels, 18x8.5. I can't find anywhere on it saying what the offset is and the only thing I know is per this sizing chart it is either 30, 38 or 47 off set. I'm gonna assume it's 30 or 37. Now will 18/8.5 30 or 37 offset wheels be fine for 265/35/18s? Am currently on 245/40/18.

That wheel looks like a high offset variety based on the convex style face. If you have these wheels the offset is stamped on the backside like this:

I checked and it didn't list the offset.

Another person posted same wheels 18/8.5/30 offset and I believe they look exactly the same?

Would be interested in seeing the back side of the wheel myself. The size & offset must be stamped for ID purposes. Strange seeing a convex wheel w/a low +30 offset

Edit: You might be right, heres a FS thread showing that +30 wheel (its the 8.5 width that gives it that look. The 9.5" has a flatter face) / https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sa...5-w-tires.html

Im not a proponent of the +22 offset for the EvO rear. The 225 is not recommended on a 9.5" wide wheel (245 is the min)

To properly run that wheel, a tight rear roll, fender pull & bumper bolt relocation is needed

Hate to be negative on your idea, but it is a tough wheel to fit in the rear

Other questions, let me know

Gents

Just installed my track wheels. Advan RGII 17x9 +29 wrapped in the fat Federal 595 EVO 265/40's. These tires are actually a 275 width but fit OK on the 9" wheel, even though 265 is the widest width allowed

Its hard to see in the pics, but the tires look great w/the Advans. Hadnt run them on the street in many years, but since Im not tracking currently, Thought Id put them into service.

looks good.. I am actually going from 18s to 17s.. yea I seen Feddys on a friends car and they def running wider than most tires. Michelin PS for example run narrower than most.
