I kinda want to delete my 10.5" wheel posts from this thread to save others the headache. 30 profile tires on a daily driver, hammering seam welds, exotic suspension parts, and so on, I'm in too deep to stop, but word of caution to others: 265s on 9.5s is enough, and just cause you can do 275 in Forza doesn't mean you should take that as a challenge

I only do like 10k miles a year so it's not the end of the world, but *******, what have I done

Just because you can, doesnt mean you should (haha)

Good words of advice

I ended up going with the 18x10.5 +38 Forgestar F14s recommended by @ayoustin in the trailing arms thread. Going to take 2 months to get them so I'll post what happens then. They're RPF1 light, RPF1 cheap, with the trade off being their formerly questionable reputation. This size only comes in the flat face, but I'm fine with that, it's a contrarian look to the concave stuff.

The 285/30s have 1/2" less overall diameter than the 265/35s I already run, so I might be okay and not lose turning radius. The problem I didn't realize with all the excitement with the rear trailing arms is front coilover clearance. Right now with 9.5/265s I can barely squeeze a pinky in, and somehow I'm going to have to turn that space into an inch. I'm hoping to only use 5mm spacers up front, I would really prefer not to put the 20s on there with the new wheels. They already poke out enough as it is. And I need reasonable camber too, no more than 2.5.

Below is the best case scenario that I'm praying for. This includes 20mm spacers on +45 9.5" wheels that I currently run, and 5mm spacers for the new 10.5" +38 wheels.

And to anyone else thinking of ever dabbling with this, read these two very important posts, word by word. Don't skip over the pinch weld or eccentric bolt, those guys didn't post that by accident.

Have been looking at a set of Work Emotions 11r in 18x9.5 +38 for my IX. Wondering if I would need to run a spacer up front. Sry new to the evo fitment.

The size is certainly OK for EvO front & rear fit & the offset is stock. Most high offset wheels (i.e. +38) will have a hard time fitting over the front Brembos

Heres a EvOX thread where this similar wheel did not fit w/out spacer usage

Would like to keep you around the +29 (more flush) to +35 (less flush) area. +22 can be done but will require serious rear fender work if youre OK w/that?

Hello! I am looking to go back to struts and lowering springs from coilovers on my Evo 8 MR. Any of you run 255/35/18 with 18x9.5 +15 on lowering springs? It's my daily and I normally have my wife and newborn in the back. I am just worried that it would scrape. I am also considering going down to 17 inch wheel with 255/40 tires. Looking forward to your input. Thanks!

Hello. Yeah, +15 is very, very aggressive especially in the 9.5" width. You would need way too much rear fender work to get this +15 offset to fit correctly w/out rear fender rub

With your precious family riding in the back, it would be best to find an offset that will work safetly w/out all that fender work

The range, i like to avoid serious fender work, is approx 18x9.5 +32 to +38

Hello. The rear fender roll is a must! The best RPF1 fit that im aware of is: RPF1 17x9.5 +38. Fits very well in the rear w/a rear roll & a 20mm spacer up front

I do have to stress that rear fender work is needed to fit most aggressive wheels (i.e. 9 to 9.5" wide & offsets between +27 to +38)
Any questions, let me know

The tough part about wheels is that most spoke designs require a front spacer. Volk / Advan / Rota / Wedsport / 5Ziggen & there are others have spoke designs that are EvO Brembo friendly. Theres no laymans formula for figuring out if a wheel will need a front spacer

If youre looking for wheels that fit w/out too much rear trouble, ive always noted these ranges: 18x9 +32 to +38 / 18x9.5 +32 to +38 / 17x9 +32 to +38 / 17v9.5 +32 to +38. If you stay around those areas & depending on tire size, these will be more of a modest fit w/out having to do major rear fender work

Any other questions, let me know

Hello! I am running 18x9.5 +15 on Rpf1 with 255/35. I have to rubbing issues anywhere. Just on front fender liner when the wheel is turned all the way. The wheels look aggressive and the car sits beautiful!

thanks for the input! If I go down to 17 inch, it would still be the same off set?
