Where did you pick these up and have you contacted them yet to discuss your options?

I got them on ebay from 70after. Payment went to kuruma motoring inc. I have contacted them and they refused a refund. I have opened a paypal dispute.

No these were brand new still in packaging. Only drove about 70 miles on them before this happened.

wow, never heard of anything like this. should have nothing to do with the lubrication of the bearing. the only thing that comes to mind that could cause this is if the upper nut was over tightened using a impact wrench.

looks like an installation error in my opinion. Over torquing the nut will do that. especially when you're bending the strut against the maxed out bearing angularity trying to get an axle out (or back in) instead of just removing the strut completely. also sounds like the springs were massively preloaded to have one come shooting out when it snapped.

these were already assembled. The top nut was not touched. I was there during the installation. Only reason I didn't do it myself was because I thought there would be stupid issues with broken bolts. And the strut was not connected to the hub when I was replacing the axel. Any suspension is going to have tension on the spring. Get the facts by reading before you comment.

Got them from someone called 70after and the broke after about 70 miles. Their name says it all.

In all seriousness this sucks man. I hope the issue gets resolved for you.

Incorrect. Coilovers generally aren't preloaded more then a thread or so. There shouldn't be more the a few pounds on those springs.

Even if it was heavily preloaded and being bent due to maxing out the spherical bearing, I don't think the shaft would break by hand force unless there was a material defect.

I made sure not to adjust the spring so it didn't put tension on it. I adjusted the bottom of the strut mount. Either way I don't think it should have broken.

Interesting to know, I installed my D2's that I Daily Drive back in Nov and have about 6,000 miles on them.
