Neal, Weight of Michelin PS2 vs. A046?

Neal,

What is the tire weight difference between the stock A046 and the Michelin PS2(stock size)?

Thanks.

DUDE, you beat me to it, I was gonna ask the exact same thing about the Bridestone Potenze RE750's. I was told the A046's weigh 26 lbs each. Neal if you could elaborate or get a more specific weight, that'd be awesome...

hahha

Advan 25 lbs
PS2 22 lbs
RE750 25 lbs

thanks, not sure why you're laughing, but thanks.

Also what about Yokohama AVS Sports? And Kuhmo Ecsta MX's?

whats the lightest stock size tire that has any sort of decent performance? Just curious

Neal@tirerack Feb 8, 2005 12:52 PM

AVS Sport 25 lbs
MX 24 lbs

Decent performance from the Kumho for the price and weight. The best performance comes from the PS2.

whats the absoulte lightest tire for the evo? and heaviest for that matter? again, i'm just curious i feel like an 8th grader that just had a great idea for a science project the night before it was due...

Heaviest 29 lbs Goodyear HP Ultra Plus

Neal, you rule.... any other interesting facts you can throw out?

ovenmit331 Feb 8, 2005 01:14 PM

Like how much would dropping 7 pounds per tire affect a ¼-mile time? I would think 28 pounds of unsprung rotational weight would help out a bit. Am I wrong?

ummm...

Haven't really done any research on that to be honest. However, any amount of unsprung weight you can save will help in acceleration and gas mileage.

Man, I think that would be a fun little comparison... any way tirerack would wanna sponsor that test? All I'd need is a set of conti sport contact's since my RE750s are brand new... what are your thoughts? Theres about a bagillion tests I could run. Like I said, Science project... Even know some PhD Physicists and Engineers. We could turn this bad boy into a scientific study...

Sounds good to me! I'll bring my G and we'll rip the track up. :D

ovenmit331 Feb 8, 2005 01:27 PM

If only it was that simple to get "sponsored"

Think I've heard the 3,000 cows thing before...
