That is really interesting. Other than not needing air, are there any advantages other than it won't blow out?

it wont be coming out until 2015 they say because its really loud when weighted down.

There is no lateral deflection. In Michelin's words:

"...Michelin has increased the lateral stiffness by a factor of five, making the prototype unusually responsive in its handling."

It really is cool. It looks a little strange, but there has been talk by Michelin that the sides (they are not really sidewalls) will be covered in rubber to look like a conventional tire. They will require special wheels, but a bent wheel will not exhibit the same pronounced effects as in a conventional setup.
