mybada, I see you know nothing about painting...I will just remove the tire and scan the surface to match the color.....sometimes I just don't know about people, you ask for a hand and you get some wise a@@ remark....This is the only thing I don't like about this forum.....too many kids.....Now for the one's that help out a fellow Evo owner....my hat is off too you!! {thumbup}

i assumed it was graphite grey cause it seemed to match pretty well on the car..not 100% sure but i would think you could buy some graphite grey "touch up" from the dealership & fix your boo-boo for under 20 bucks...good luck{thumbup}

After scaning the wheel with a PPG scaner I came up with
DBC Deltron DBC 3751 who ever my be interested....I used DBC so that I could use house of kolor reducer... Oh the wheel came out perfect... {thumbup} HJ |
your mixing PPG paint and house of color reducer , I would never do that . why doint you use DRR reducer which you are to with DBC paint , Comeing from a painter just my .02

I hipe you curb the rest of your wheels, you deserve it if you are road tuning and trying to drive, dumba$$. At least you won't have to ask all the wisea$$es next time you curb your wheel cause you know the color now.
It's so easy to read into a post and jump...my bad, and for that I'm sorry. Also coming from a painter....you can use House of kolor....RU's for this kind of PPG paint....That's why I had it mixed that way....I have a ton of House of kolor products froming painting vehicles...and a few helmets. It won't blow up on you....great for quick fixes!!!! Sorry guys....my bad. Peace Love.... Herb :D |
Can one of you post a link on how this is done? I have no idea what the acronyms mean but I'm in a situation where I want to find out the closest paint color for my hyperblack Enkei RPM2 rims. I called Enkei to see if they have touch up paint kits and they have none. I asked for a paint code and they could not provide one as they said it was a 3 step paint process. I want to find the color of this rim:
http://www.streetdreams.org//wheels/...hyperblack.jpg I know I will not get a perfect match, but I sure would like to come up with something close. Do I throw my rim on my home sanner or is special equipment needed? Can someone post a step by step on how the paint color number was found in this case? Thanks. |

congrats on fixing the wheel though. Also ntnct look in the yellow pages for a auto paint store in your area that sells PPG products.....Give them a call to see if they have a PPG scanner....our any other ones on site.....I forgot...the scanner likes to have a flat surface to scan......take the tire off of the wheel.....have them scan the inter surface of the wheel...the person my try to tell you that they need a flat surface, but ask them to try.....it can be done.....once its scaned the computer will give them a tint guide to mix the color for you. :D Herb |
is wheel paint different that car paint? high temp? maybe stronger..... you other guys with rock chips see where im going 8===@ ({}) 8=}) 8===})
