yokohama avs es100, piece ripped off
damn.. just got some new yokohama avs es100s few weeks ago and i discovered a little piece of my tread ripped off!! has this ever happened to anyone? i might go back to the tire shop and see if they could replace it. it's a really small piece, but geezzz wtf?? do you think it can be dangerous to drive with? it's just from the top tread, so i figure it's not much different in terms of safety if the tread was worn down to that point.. this sux man!! it's a small piece but still!!! {thumbdwn} {thumbdwn} {thumbdwn}

Wow that's quite unusual. A co-worker of mine had a piece of his tires rim protector (not a Yoko) get ripped off in an automatic car wash. I wouldn't drive on any tire missing parts. Really best to have a shop look at it.

yea.. i'm gonna head back to that tire shop and see about a replacement. i paid an extra $10 or so per tire for insurance, so hopefully that will cover this sort of thing. i don't remember driving too agressively, and even if i did i don't think something like this should happen?

Damn i just bought 2 of the same tires monday, i hope peices of mine dont fall off

manufacture defect thats all...happens to almost every tire brand...just some more than others..i use to work in a tire shop..seen that all the time

What tires would u suggest?
|
I recommend placing the stock tires back on there for replacement. Mitsu engineered the car in a sense with those tires in mind.
As an example many car magazines did testing with different tires after the stockers wore out and they didn't hold on the skid-pad as well and didn't put up as good of numbers. The stockers are a VERY nice tire, albeit a little expensive. |
yea the avs es100's suck..
