17's or 18's???
I would like some imput on rim size for my 03 EVO. I like the look of the 18's but I'm more worried about performance. On my Eclipse I had 18's and I could tell the difference, plus they were really heavy but it wan't AWD either.
I want the Volk CE28N's but I don't want to do 18's if they hurt performance. It seems 18's are so much easier to get though. This isn't a daily driver either so take that into consideration. Any feedback for the experience of changing to 18's would be appreciated. |
Go 17s...Drop the car a bit and you can barely tell the difference, and your performance will be superior (all that really matters in my book)...Definitely go 9 inches or more is possible.

Also what width,8, 8.5,9 , I have Tein S prings. Along with that tire size.

Depends on your application. If you are looking for handling superiority, the Bozz Evo dominated on 17x9 front 17x8 rear...245/45 17s...I would go as wide as possible (although the deep pockets of Bozz only went to 9"). I think the limitations without rolling are either 9 or 9.5.

The 17's will be a little bit lighter and you can run some nice R compound tires such as RA1's. The only advantage to the 18's that I see is that you can buy some nice and expensive Yokohama A048 tires, which are only available for 18 inch rims.
