Running 16's on an EVO? too small?
anyone running 16's on an EVO? I currently have 19's on the EVO (Konig), and I wanted to buy the same Konig's in the 17's but the offset is too big, but they have a 16 size that will work...but I wasn't sure if 16's would be too small.

youd need smaller brakes
|
^ just like he said wont clear the brakes
|
16's would look realllyy dumb
|
it's ok, keep the 19's on the front and 16's on the back
|
or switch it and put the 16's in front...then it would look like an old time muscle car.
my question has been answered....forget the 16's.. |

all the above :)

16's would look so small lol, yes I know this is point less

16's would actually work, and it would make the car look like it was intended (a rally car) with higher sidewall tires. My sapphire cosworth has larger diameter brakes than the evo and large 4 piston AP calipers, and I run 15" rally wheels. It's all about finding a wheel designed for rally, and you should be able to stuff 16" on there no problem.
YMMV, Greg |
depends on offset and spoke design.
|
There has to be a 16" wheel with a spoke design that allows stock brakes.
|
Whew... I read the title of this and thought you were talking about 1/4 mile  If I was running 16's I'd have to sell my Evo and commit myself...
There certainly exist 16" wheels that will clear the Evo's brakes, but they're probably not "off the rack". Maybe something like these: http://www.sportcompactcarweb.com/pr...rojwrx06_s.jpg they are Technomagnesium TM from Rally Performance http://www.rallyperformance.com/wheels.shtml Although it may be tougher to find them in an Evo specific application. |
TurboTrix uses 16s for their 9 second car...but they put on eclipse brakes to clear the rims (I think)
|
Whoever finds 16" wheels that will clear the stock brakes will be my hero. :)
