would 245/45/17's work on evo?
I think they are about 1/2 inch too tall but will they work ok? The reason i'm asking is because i have michilin A/S XGT from my mustang GT back in the days and perhaps if they work i'd put more $$ towards some nice rims :)

also, would 16/50 work on the evo??

i think its like 235R16/50 and no it wont work(not on front anyway) because the brake won't fit. According to GTR, if most 17s won't fit, what makes you think 16s will fit? I would love to see someone fit 245s on their evos with no mods and some feedbacks.

If the tires are the wrong height, your speedometer will be off.

I was thinking about going to Falken Azeni 245/45s when I wear out the Yokos. They would be 25.7" in diameter, compared to the stock 25.3". Overall the speedometer would read 1.4% low... not really an issue. I do not see a problem with it.
Also, if you want to check out various tire sizes look over here for a nice calculator: Tire size calculator |
I was told that in order for us to Run the Azenis, we should use the 225/45/17 size. Azenis have an unusually wide sidewall. So they shouldn't seem any narrower than 235's. And the load rating of the tires in 225 size is apparenly up to spec for our heavier car.
If anyone has seen the clearance between the rear wheel/tire and the strut on our Evo's, you will notice that it's only about 1.5cm's. So if you increase tire widths without changing the rims offset, we will quickly see some tire bind. SC~ who's getting Azenis soon. |

fwiw
i have the new hyper rev 4, and almost all the tuner cars run 17x9-9.5 w/245-255 wide tires. i imagine they roll the fenders, but they certainly look like they fit just fine. it also had a ralli art EVO 8 they put together, and it had 17x9's all the way around w/245's and ralli art co's. i think with minimal work, 245-255's will work. it also looks insanely dope. josh |
