17 x 10's : What offset?
 

Does any one know what offset would work best on the
17 x 10 5 Zigen FNO1R-C rims? I can get 25mm or 35mm.

I am currently running 17 x 9's with the 35mm offset with
5mm spacers up front.
Tires are 275/40-17 Kumho 710's.

Any reason for such a wide rim? Are you looking to just stretch the 275's more?

Yeah my 9" rim is the bare minimum (range is 9"-11" for the 275).
Robi-spec told me that I was choking my tires and not benefiting
with a full patch of rubber on the ground.

I know 17x9.5 will fit with +25 up front and +35 in the rear, but you will need to roll your fenders.

Dr.Mr- Gotcha, I was always under the impression that a 275 on a 9.5inch rim was just about optimal good to know, and I suppose it varies depending on sidewall as well, what does robi run on the Buschur car out of curiosity if you know?

The Buschur Time-Attack car is running 305/30 - 18 Hoosiers.

Yeah what width, I thought they were 9.5s or so? Sorry what I was getting at was that I thought (at least for road course shenanigans) that a 9.5 inch rim with a 275 in 35/40 profile was plenty wide enough.

Yes, I read the post, and I'm stating 10's will not fit (without serious modification)but you can get 9.5 to fit (with just fender rolling).

Well, I autcross now with 17 x 9's with 275's with only 5mm spacers up front
and no fenders rolled.
I'm getting the 17 x 10's in a couple days. I'll let you all know what I have to
do to get them on.

So you have measured this out have you? 9.5 et 25 is further out than a 10 et 35. They will fit in the front with a little rubbing, the rear requires rolling and a little bit of a pull. I am doing this next year for track wheels and keep 275-35-18 and split offset 18x9.5 (et 25 front, 35 rear) for street.

^^^ the rear work fine awith just a roll as long as you roll the lip flat. i run 5zigen 18x9.5 +35 with 275/35/18 ra-1's. no rubbing fully loaded up at the bottom of the corkscrew at laguna or the cyclone at t-hill.

the thing you have to watch out for when going past 9" is that inner suspension parts start coming into play. you go too far inboard in the rear and trailing arm clearance becomes an issue. 17's have more of an issue. going to larger diameter rim actually helps with this.
up front though, you start hitting springs and perches on coilovers. i had to run 8" spring lengths
so the perches were up high enough to clear the tire. you can run less offset or spacers to help with this but then fender clearance becomes an issue.

it's quite a little dance to get this all working well together :)
it definitely helps to get some advice from someone like robi(or some of these other guys who have set up real cars). he's gone through quite a few iterations of these combinations and would probably have some go info on what to look for and stay away from.

Good info smack evo. I'm using 17's because the way I go through tires, it's
more affordable!

My current 17 x 9 has 35mm offset and the new 17 x 10 will have 25mm offset.
So that should help with fitment... we'll see.
