Bilstein's or no Bilstein's??

So guys ... I'm looking to make my Evo VIII ride smoother and less jarring for everday driving, but I also want it to keep it's aggressive attitude for when a Honda Civic wants some action!!

In your opinions ... is it worth the $700 to upgrade to the MR Bilstein's to accomplish my goals??

???

Bilsteins...?

I swapped stock for MR Bilsteins on my car with Swift Springs and I think the ride is much improved...very BMW M3 like. Less harsh and way more silky. I recommend it.

Yes to Bilsteins! ... there is a little more body roll but your spinal cord will thank you during your daily commute depending on the road conditions.

the Bilsteins are great, with standard springs, and even better with swifts.

It's funny, I actually preferred the ride of my 8 over my 9 MR. The MR just feels like it has too much body roll. Definitely rides smoother, though.

If you can, save up for some Bilstien PSS9s, it made a night and day dif. in my 03'. Clunking, body roll and fender gaps gone!

+1 on the PSS9's....best riding street coilover, handsdown. Will be a little soft for the hardcore track guys, but still a big step up from stock, and the ride quality improvement makes it all worth it.

Where is the best place to buy the PSS9's??

Czubaka Jun 6, 2006 03:54 PM

www.GTWORX.com, of course.

nick_622 Jun 6, 2006 03:58 PM

$1699 huh .... OUCH ... a little outta my price league fellas!! Unless GTWORX can swing me a deal ... ;)

If you can't swing PSS9s, get MR suspension and you won't be disappointed. I switched from stock suspension with hotchkis springs to bilsteins with eibach springs. Ride quality was much improved with no loss in handling. My test was driving over a rough road with 3 sets of trains tracks... it soaked up the little bumps, not bone jarring like usual.

It does have a little more body role, but rarely track my car.

Are you able to get 4 bilstein dampers for $700? If so, where! When I was looking into this at local dealers, they wanted almost that much for each! Are these the USDM dampers or JDM? Please help me, if I can improve the ride on my car for only $700, I'm on it!
Also, source for the Swift springs?

Thanks everyone!

you can get barely used MR suspension for cheap(compare to the stealership) from MR guys looking to upgrade

thinking of getting myself bilsteins also, and here's my thoughts.....

used oem = around $700-$900 less than 2000miles (dang, used:()

new oem = around $1300 with only MR rear springs (get swifts instead for same price)

pss9 = $1700 (i'm not an autoXer)

Keep an eye on the forums ... in fact ... I think there is a set up there right now for $845 or something like that.
