245/45/17's, will they work?

Any problem running 245/45/17's on the stock rims? When my stock tires are shot I would like to run the Falken Azenis and they don't come in 235's.

Thanks
Mike

Should, though the speedometer will read off about 2% or so... I plan to go to Azenis when the Advans die.

He's keeping the same thickness of tire, so the speedo shouldn't be off at all.

Just make sure that you have enough clearance in the wheel wells when the wheel is turned to full lock, so you don't rub anywhere.

I plan to go to a 235/40R17 tire, which will mess w/ my speedo a little, but have a little lowered look and low-pro look to my car.

Thanks Fireball and 2Cool. Fireball, while the tire is also a 45 series it will infact be slightly hight because the 45 represents the aspect ratio. So the sidewalls are 45% of 245's vs 45% of 235's.

I don't think the difference is very much and I might be able to get 2 Falken Azenis for $175 (new). I will pick the others up later and mount them all at once.

actually, it makes abit of difference. if u want to know the exact speed and size check this website out:

he's not keeping the same "thickness"... his sidewall height will increase by a bit...

a 245/45 sidewall is marginally larger than a 235/45 sidewall... the 45 is a ratio of the width of the tire... therefore...

245/45 sidewall height is 4.34"
235/45 sidewall height is 4.16"

the speedo error at 60mph will be less than 1mph... nothing to worry about...

What about the 245/40/17?

Scot May 16, 2003 03:15 PM

The Azenia's dont come in that exact size.... azenia's are cheap (super cheap) and pretty sticky.

I'm thinking about the same one {thumbup} If you auto X them let me know how they compare to the 046 even though it's a larger tire.
