bump steer kit

Can anyone tell me what are the advantages of an aftermarket "Bump-Steer" kit for our Evo's? Is this mod worthwhile on a street driven car, or only on a tracked car. What does it do? Does it tighten up the responsiveness and feel of the steering? Is it easy to install? I know, I know, I should've seached....Sorry!

Increases responsiviness, reduces understeer, etc. Good if you can handle it.

Actually makes the car more stable in turns by controlling the toe better in reaction to a bump in the middle of a turn and reduces the toe change due to suspension loading during a turn without a bump in it. See post above for other good things it does. i find it easier to drive a car that has it on....more predictable and less apt to go AWOL in a turn.

Does require skill modification as spdracerut suggests

Whiteline.

It's a worthwhile mod IMO and makes the car easier to control under heavy braking. I might start elsewhere.

where would you start?

It's up for debate, I personally would do springs and swaybars front and rear. That costs a bit more then a 60 dollar set of bushings though. :)

Other bushings worth doing around the same time are the rear trailing arm bushings and front control arm bushings. The roll center kit from Whiteline is good too but not if you're autocrossing and want to stay legal.

For a quick cheap mod, the bumpsteer kit is pretty good, but you do need to get an alignment so it makes sense to couple it with other mods. So maybe the group of bushings all at one time.
