Odd tire wear

Gents.

I have searched the archives I swear.

I'll give it to you Guys straight so you can help me and I knwo I'll get kicked in the nuts too fo rsome of my oversights.

On the non stock tires that I pourchased I went 10k without a rotation {thumbdwn}

So when I went to Costco today for my rotation they said the inside of the front tires were getting worn and drivers side more so than the other. They would not rotate as it's against there policy.

I really don't want to take the car in to Mitsu (aftermarket exhaust).

What do you Guys think is going on and why only one side?

the insides of tires on the evo tend to wear alot faster than the outsides due to alignment settings.

i've rotated mine to front to back twice (with about 7k miles on the right now), and you can start to see the insides wearing more than the outside. i need to get them pulled off the wheels and rotated properly soon.

that was one of the first things i was warned about when i got my evo, is to keep an eye on the inside on the tires.

You need an alignment. Make sure they zero your toe.

Okay cool. Is the alignment a warranty item or can I just take it to a tire store?

If I can, what are the good alignment figures?

spumoni1984 Jul 24, 2007 02:03 PM

I took mine to mitsu and told them i needed an alignment. I had 3k on it an already was wearing 3/32 off the inside. they took it without any prob on the warranty. I can't help you with the figs thou

the only alignment spec you need to worry about is ZERO TOE in the front. Toe is what kills tires.

Hi Guys:

I called the dealer where I purchased my car and they told me that the warranty does not cover alignment after 12kmi, the car is at 14k now.

So is this true or do I need to call Mitsubishi directly?

Thanks.

The 12K warranty thing is true. Unfortunately you are too late.

Look at your tires. If there is still tread left on the inside edge (not bald), then you need to flip your tires. Have them taken off the rim and reinstalled so that what was on the inside edge is now on the outside edge. Put the most worn ones on the rear. This will get you quite a few more miles as the outside of the rear gets almost no wear.

Also, as recommended above, after you do this get an alignment and tell the tech to set the camber at factory specs and the toe to Zero.

Thanks for the confirmation Evo, I have done exactly what you said and now need to get an alignment.
