Rebuilding the Brembo's
could the seals be replaced with the ones found on this page? If so that's the cheapest I've seen anywhere

will the Subie parts work for the rear calipers as well?
|
Yes, the brakes are the same front and back except
Evo=Red Subi=Gold Evo=Pins Subi=Clips Evo Calipers are clocked differently than Subaru. G35 Brembos are also the same I think. |

i am taking the pistons and dust boots out to have the pieces powder coated, and i figured while i was in there, just make them all brand new like factory pieces
|
That is great news, I got a used set for free and wanted to rebuild them as a spair set. thanks for the great info
|
ok so i ordered front and rear caliper seals, the fronts fit fine, but the rear subie seals DO NOT work. They use a larger piston than the STi, and won't work. Just a fyi

From: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=1442956
STi Front disc: 326x30mm Rear disc: 316x20mm Front caliper: 4-piston 40/46mm pistons Rear caliper: 2-piston 36mm pistons Evo Front disc: 320x32mm Rear disc: 300x22mm Front caliper: 4-piston 40/46mm pistons Rear caliper: 2-piston 40mm pistons 350Z/G35C Front disc: 324x30mm Rear disc: 322x22mm Front caliper: 4-piston 38/44mm pistons Rear caliper: 2-piston 40mm pistons |
im willing to bet the Nissan rear kit is much cheaper than mitsu's
|
As mentioned above .... very very rare for the rears to require a rebuild.

But they don't carry the infamous 46mm size (Hoerr carries 46mm seals, but not boots). You want the Subaru seal kit, part no. 26297FE010, which will get you all the seals and boots you need for both calipers, in sealed Brembo packaging, even. Not to mention it's less than $75 to your door from subarugenuineparts.com, but you could probably pick them up from a dealer for less than $90 if you're in a rush.
Dave I ordered part #26297FE010 from subarugenuineparts.com ( I know this is not a vendor, but this is 1/4 the price from buying anywhere else) I shouldn't jump for joy yet at the price, as I haven't done the install yet, but I will post up pics of the build for an evo-specific how-to thread if all goes well. |

Semi-Necro post, but incredible info here in a not-so-read thread that I found through a search.

The Subaru seals worked great. Make sure you use a shim on the new pads to prevent future seal destruction! (or at least postpone it). |
