Is this the right set-up for running 15's?

I'm ready to go with a specific drag set-up for my evo and this will benefit our other evo9 as well at the shop.

I'll be purchasing the AMS/Willwood front brakes but i want to be sure on the wheel sizes. Tell me if i'm wrong but this is what i'm looking at.

Rota Slipstream 15 x 7 + 40mm ($258 ea)

Motegi Tracklites 15 x 6.5 + 35mm ($125 ea)

Hoosier QTP's 26 x 9.5 15" ($160 ea)

Now my questions are:

Is that the correct offsets?

Do i just need to do the AMS front brakes or do i have to do the rear?

I'm pretty sure i need extended studs to be legal right?

I'm also pretty sure i need some spacers on all four corners correct?

Once last thing......will i have a problem if i'm running the stock struts w/ Tein springs or is it necessary to switch to a coilover setup?

I know there are a few racers on here that are running these wheels/tires but not too sure about on the stockish suspension.

Thanks

You will have to run a coil over. As far as the rear brakes, Im not sure on that? The rotas I have are 15X7.5 +40. I had to use a 15 mm spacer in the front for these.

Thanks for replying so quickly :)

:( Sux to hear that i have to go to a c/o setup though.

Maybe i can just get away w/ running the CCW's on the stock susp.

FWIW - I just got off the phone w/ AMS an dthey said i should be able to use the small front brake kit and still fit 15/16" wheels w/ the stock suspension but i may still need spacers due to offset.

If anyone else has info on this please let me know.

you could run 17s with motorcycle slicks. They've been cutting some pretty good 60' with them down in PR.

Ya i know i've thought about that w/ all the great et's and 60's the PR guys are laying down.

If i can't find a suitable wheel/brake set-up i'll give them a shot.

M/T has a 17" slick! Only thing is that it is 11.5" wide-- 26x11.5x17 DOT:D :crap:

LOL hey man i know you've been looking for something to run as well.

Through my research i see your SN and posts just like mine.

What do you think abou the MT Drag Bike slicks?

I'm all about simplicity and saving some cash where i can so i may just try them out on stock wheels or maybe even some 17x7" wheels if i can get some.

Please keep me informed if you find something.

lots of confusion on this for me... I want to run some 15" wheels so I bought
Rota Slipstream 15 x 7 + 35mm (not 40mm like you guys)
English Racing Small Brake kit (front only)
M&H Dot Radials

my car has lowering springs for what it's worth...do I need coilovers?? what about spacers/studs?

Mellon

Hey bro ignore my last pm to you i sifted through some older pm's and the spacer was 15mm and i do believe i posted the wrong offest above as i was just researching at that point.

I believe they were 15x7 35mm offset w/ 15mm hubcentric spacer and 3" arp stauds.

I have the receipt at home but i'm pretty sure they were 35 offset not 40.

Sorry to make things confusing for all but at the time there was only one guy i knew running the set-up

hmm mine came in as +40 after all and they clear the English Racing small brake kit without needing spacers/studs :)

SWEET :D

Glad that all worked out for you man!

Too bad they didn't have that kit out when i was looking :lol:oh well i have a customer that will be very happy to hear this news.

By the way Mellon are you running coilovers?

Please let me know also when you get things mounted i'm anxious to see how they look on the car

Mellon Racing Feb 4, 2009 12:28 PM

the car had some lowering springs with no name on them when I bought it. I probably will not be adding coilovers unless I need them...I don't want to get that nasty bunny hop on hard launches.

I won't be posting up pics of the English Racing small brake kit, people should buy the parts from them since they did the research to find out what works well :)

I'll get a pic of the car when I have the wheels/tires on, I just had the tires mounted today, hopefully I won't have any rubbing.
