Crooked Steering Wheel

Ok here is my dilema...

When I'm driving anytime i take a right turn the steering wheel after the turn is like this \ but then after making a left turn it goes back to being straight -

Any clues?

alignment

got that looked at they said when the car is turned left...the alignment is good...but as soon as it is turned right it goes to hell...

? Take it to another shop - there is definite issues there.

Alignment is the problema dude

Noob4life Dec 24, 2008 05:04 PM

I don't think its the alignment, it sounds like an issue within the steering linkage itself.

OP: do the wheels turn their full range when you crank the wheel all the way clockwise? What about counter-clockwise?

yes the wheels turn their full range both ways...

Get your car looked at by a good alignment shop and they should be able to tell you exactly what the issue is.

bump any help?

No clue? Words that mean "go to a better shop".

06RedRalli Jul 5, 2009 11:14 AM

ya guess ill try that...just hoping that maybe someone had the same prob as me before and can point me in the right direction...

Smike Jul 5, 2009 11:54 AM

Yep, alignment. You correct the steering wheel when doing the alignment.

06RedRalli Jul 5, 2009 12:18 PM

it's just odd to me how the steering wheel is never in the same position after each and every turn...after turning right it stays right...after turning left it goes straight? Every car i've had that had an alignment issue never did this before...it would be crooked at the same point evertime...

Check tie-rods. Road variation can makes it seem like the wheel is off too.
