Hawk HP Plus's...

A week ago I turned my rotors and put on Hawk HP plus's. At first I thought the excess of noise was just because theyre track pads and are in need of braking in. well, its been a week and theyre still noisey as F##K!! Ive tried going back and adding some Nissan Gold lube to the pistons, hard braking, and heating. Still no better.... any suggestions???

Thx guys,
-Cory

A friend of mine put HP Plus pads on his STi.

They were loud and wore pretty quickly. They also dust up quite a bit. But the stopping power was inpressive. Im not sure how noisy you mean, but his pads are incredibly noisy.

Big time brake dust, but i expected that from a track pad. Deff great stopping power tho :)

give it some more time, i took about 2-3 weeks for my HP+'s to quite down a bit. they are still noisy, but no where near as loud as when i first installed them

hp+ aren't "Track" pads but rather aggressive street pads that is acceptable for weekend trackers. I had em and I loved the initial bite and it held good at track. I tried few things but it is really loud, no matter what I tried.
They also dust up alot, in that dark-purple-ish color and made my wheel look like matte black rather then silver:lol: and pretty fast even when I washed the wheel.

I'd check your rotors after full cycle as these eats up your brakes pretty fast as they are aggressive pads. Mine was gone after 1 summer, though I did go through 6-7 track days with hp+ pads.

i have the same pad...took mine over a month to quiet down and still once in a while it still squeaks...its just how the pads are i guess...

Good deal, thx guys!

This has been covered - HP+ are noisy.

A bit noisy and dusty for an everyday pad, but works great on track days. You will wear rotors a bit quicker when used as an everyday pad as well. Good for the person that wants excellent stopping power and doesn't mind cleaning their wheels or noise.

They work great for mild track days on street tires....i still wouldn't call them a track pad.

They're kind of a really aggressive street pad that has a lot of intial bite, noise, and dust.

Hmm, i'm thinking about going with these for my evo, its kind of a daily driver in the summer and i will do 2-3 track days a year, any better options? For the price i think these look pretty good.

HP+ are at times quite noisy in Brembo calipers on both STi's and EVO's.

If you need the bite that they offer - you might consider Hawk DTC-30's.

I am running a pretty long term test on an STi - details are over on your favorite Subaru board

Roman has been running the car in pretty cold weather (NC is moderate - but we have our share of sub freezing temps)

Roman has decent HP - 340/330 on a Mustang Dyno

Roman did a track weekend and he is a pretty good driver

There are some posts on here as well - do a search.

They are making almost no noise on Romans car.

They pretty much heat up right away.

On the topic of Hawk pads....

How are the Hawk Ceramics??
From what i can tell, they're a step down from the HP plus..

Do they make noises? And are they good enough for occasional track days?
I tried to look at the information of their heat range but couldn't find anything :S

GTWORX.com May 12, 2009 08:43 AM

Hawk ceramics are very much a DD only pad. Quiet, very little dust, but will get TOASTED at the track.
