235/40-18 vs 265/35-18 + A/S tire feedback
Hey guys, just wanted to get a bit of feedback on some recommendations between these 235/40-18 and 265/35-18 tire sizes. Maybe some pros, cons, or would I even notice?
Background: - Daily driven - 18x9.5 wheels - Occasionally recreationally tracked I will be running an all-season, would like great wet traction, acceptable light snow traction, and am considering the following: - Goodyear Eagle F1 All Season - Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus - Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS (Currently on the vehicle in 265/35-18) I know there are tradeoffs w/ all-seasons, but I'm seriously pondering the necessity of running a 265 width tire when I track it so rarely. 235/40-18 seems like it would be better when in the winter, without sacrificing that much grip? Thanks for your help! |
Narrower is better when it comes to wet and snow. Tracking on an a/s wont be spectacular anyway so I wouldn't worry about losing much on the size side of things.
I'd stay away from the GY as it gets super noisy and wears weird longer in life. Have had a lot returned recently cause of that. The B-Stone and Mich tested very very similar in our recent tire testing. Personally I'd go with the B-Stone and save a couple $$. That means you'll have to use the 265's though cause the 960 in 235 isn't out yet. |
