Rubbing With Swift Spec R's

I have a IX with swift spec r's and stock wheels and tires and they rub pretty hard when the wheel is fully turned. The camber isn't to crazy but it's the only thing I can imagine is causing the rubbing since I've been told I could bun a much bigger wheel without problems and I've never heard of anyone having a problem with swift springs and rubbing before. Can anyone recommend a good camber kit?

You should have no rubbing on the SpecRs wiht stock wheels and tires.

Where are they rubbing?

Who installed them? I would double/triple check the installation. Something does not seem to be right.

Did you get an alignment after installing?

They're rubbing in the front when the wheel is fully turned in either direction. I installed them myself so I'm pretty sure they were installed properly but I wouldn't put it past myself to **** something up, but I can't imagine how they could be installed wrong.

did u turn the springs so they were seated correctly? did u line up the hole on the seat with the hole on the cap? are the struts still good? what is your tires size?

Did you forget to clip the fender liner back on?

Nope all that stuff is back in place.

some rubbing on the front driver side tire - ran a few scenario and it rubs only when fully locked and compressed - i.e. when i back up into the drive way because the front will not clear and possibly when cornering hard - light scoring on the inside patch near the edge of the wall. i'm using 235/40/18

Its because your stock tires are too 'tall' i.e., the 45.
With a 17" wheel you should run a 40.

I run 18x9.5 wheel and 255/35/18 Star Specs on Swift Spec R springs w/ no rubbing.

JonahEVO Jun 8, 2010 06:34 AM

Hmmm I don't think it should rub at all since it does not sit that low like the Tein S-Tech.

This is bad information. Stock tires are 235/45/17.

I had the same springs and same stock tire size. My did not rub at all. Even with my new rims 17 x 9.5 255/40 no rub. Something isn't right.

LOL, I am running 245/45/17 with same Springs and stock BBS wheels.... Its almost impossible to rub on stock wheels even with a 255 on there. Post a pic of the car if you can. ALso, what are your alignment specs? has the camber on the car ever been altered?

How exactly is it bad info? I am suggesting he swap to a less meaty tire. Not debating the size of stock tires. He is having rubbing with 235/45/17's. You can talk theory all day but he will still have rubbing at the end of it. A shorter tire like a 235/40/17 will likely solve his problem.

I have Swift Spec R with 235/45/17 tires on stock evo8 wheels and no rubbing at all. I think you must of installed it wrong somehow or you must weight like +300 LBS.
