Help! CCW LM20's Crackling/Rattling Noise

Hello Evom,

Im having a problem with my CCW. As my wheel is in motion there is a rattling/cracking sound coming from two wheels. Really hard to explain so please bare with me. I took it to a local shop for them to check it out. They thought it was the ARP or APR ( im not sure which one they are called lol) bolts might have been loose& sure enough a couple where loose.

When I picked up the rims, there was no more noise. YAY! right? well 30 minutes later the noise came back. So now im turning to you guys to see what the problem might be? maybe the seal broke? new bolts? new face? I dont know whats wrong.

I already had the previous owner contact ccw and all they said was to have the bolts re torqued as i did, but no luck{thumbdwn}. I will be giving the shop who helped me out another call. See what else they can trouble shoot.

side notes: As the wheel is rotating slower the noise becomes slower but yet louder than when accelerating the noise sounds faster but quiets down..

:helpme:

Thank you,
Hinssen

Edit: I took the CCW out and put back on my Stock BBS and the noise was not there so the noise is most def coming from the CCW wheels.

my bet is something like a valvestem or piece of metal fell inside your wheel. most likely when tires were being mounted. drive slow, clinks around. speed up, it speeds up, till centrifugal force sticks it to the side of the wheel. if it is really bothering you that bad have the tire pulled and go from there

Are you using hubcentric rings? If so, plastic or metal?

OEM lug nuts?

What torque was used?

Yep. Happened to me just a few weeks ago. I have RPF1's with the metal valvestems, one of the nuts on the inside of the valvestem came loose and was rattling around. Anywhere from 0-10mph it made a $hit load of noise, once I got going a little faster it would stop due to the centrifugal force pressing it against the wheel.

Wife somehow bent the barrel of her lm20s. Have to replace when we replace tires. She didn't hit anything but I know the wheels are tough,so i have to clue they could be bent.

^^ that's next up.

Side note: took the rims to a local tire shop to get them dismounted and check to see if anything was in there and nothing :(

have you pinpointed it to being ONE specific wheel, or is it all 4?
