IX Brembo Issue

Hi guys,

So it seems that my Brembo caliper paint is chipping now that the warranty has expired. The car has extremely low miles but the warranty has passed due to mileage.

I've heard that this has happened to many other EVO owners and I think Brembo/Mitsubishi should establish some sort of recall for it.

Has anyone had this problem or any luck with a dispute process?

Thanks!

front or back?

i changed my front ones to AP but back seem fine... done 40,000km

The front and the warranty is actually expired due to time not mileage.

AP?

Unfortunately, I dont think they'll warranty anything. AND, I've seen many evo x's with peeling brembos already so they definitely havent fixed anything.

Your best bet if they're bothering you is to have them powdercoated.

I was only able to get 2 of my calipers replaced under warranty last year at the 5 year mark

They've been going ****ty since they first used them on the evo5s, I don't think they really care.

Im in the same boat....... :(.. paint just started to chip/peel, even though I have low miles (21433 mls), I am out of warranty because of date... Complete BS. They seriously need a better clear coat that can withstand some sort of abuse... Mitsu will never recall it as it would be deathly expensive for them, unfortunatley I think we are screwed and have to pay to have it done right...:crap:

Sad to hear that the evo x has the same issues.... So much for learning from ones mistakes...

If it bothers you that much you can repaint them. There is a how to on it in the forums. The calipers see quite alot of abuse from heat, rain, salt, debris, ect...I honestly don't think its that much of a surprise to see the paint fade.

fading is understandable...but clear chipping/peeling is not normal! Its simply pathetic, and rather embarassing if you ask me... Pink brembos for the loose{thumbdwn}

This thread makes me laugh, repaint them yourself. If you can't do simple work like this, I don't understand why people would buy a high maintenance car like the ct9a.

WISE May 5, 2012 09:47 PM

Gives brembo a ****ty rep their product doesnt hold up to normal use. Gold brembos on subaru's dont fade? Wtf? I worked at mitsu bout five years ago warranty went back to brembo no pics needed, just a complaint from the owner for replacement calipers. Now they need pictures sent off to evaluate if brake fluid had been the cause before they consider it a warranted part.

your post makes me laugh, my nine has had normal maintenance no issues. Besides my calipers paint. Not a maintenancable issue like paint body things of that nature. im sure your at home paint job looks great? and holding up to the heat too?

Get them powder coated by Tirado. They'll use high temp paint.
