Stoptech Trophy ST40's only in the front :)
1 Attachment(s)
So I have been wanting to do a brake upgrade for quite some time. As much as I like repainting my OEM brownbo's I was left with a decision to make. Do I finally spend the money for two piece rotors, and rebuild the calipers and replaces lines, or do I just do an upgrade.
It looked like it was going to be about 1k to rebuild all the stock stuff and put new rotors on, so I was like well I guess I will upgrade. Also both Robispec and Road Race Engineering said the same thing, why throw 1k at it when you can put a better system on. They recommended the standard stoptechs, but I am not a normal guy :). Anyhow first pic: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/at...1&d=1467232341 |
How big is the rotor? Looks real nice.

So no more wheel spacers and I have about 15mm of clearance now. I am going to toss on my brothers rpf1's and see if I can roll without a spacer. I might rock some rpf1 on rcompounds for the track.

He has 18x9.5 +38 and 265 RS3's
The calipers are to large diameter wise for the 17's. We tried on my brothers STI. He is also running stoptechs. I have not tried them yet, been busy. But yes with the ST trophy calipers I have tons more clearance between the face of the caliper and the rim spoke. On the weds tc105n's I had to run a 3mm spacer, now I dont have any spacer and I have a boat load of clearance. |
This is probably the best solution I've seen to the repainting of the Brembos lol...It's been about a month now, how do you like them?

Previous Street Setup
Stock Brembos - repainted :) Centric High Carbon Rotors Stoptech SS Lines Stoptech Street/Track Pad Motul 660 Current Setup Stoptech ST40 Tropy Stoptech 2pc Rotors Stoptech SS Lines Stoptech Street/Track Pad Motul 660 So far the brakes have been great, they stop just as good as the stock brembo for the day to day stuff. During more high performance street driving I noticed more initial bite, and much better lockup, requires more modulation but feels like it stops faster with the apples to apples compare on the street. Car runs about 420whp. I have not had the car on the track yet with this system, so my review for that will be as soon as I hit the track. I still need to order some DTC60 pads for the ST40's. I might track it on the street pads just to see how it does. I did not notice any difference related to the weight savings. But the car has a much higher ability to lock up then it has on the brembo's, I think this is because of the larger rotor diameter, and the stiffness of the calipers. |
Those look good. Quite the upgrade over the stockers'.
