17x9 fitment
 

Hey guys, was planning on upgrading to 17x9 most likely with a +22 or +25 offset. Is much modifying required to get these to fit? Does anyone else her run 17x9 and have any good pics? Will also be planning to lower on coil overs later.

17x9 +27 with 245/45/17 (i think that's what i have...might be 245/40) requires a roll and small pull in the rear to clear through the whole range

so no, very minimal modifying

I was running 18x8.5 +30 but 265/35 tire with no mods

I run a 17x8.5 +30 with a 245. No issues or rubbing. Stock suspension too.

17x9.5 +18 with a 255/40/17. Could not be slammed but a nice track stance that fits this car. Rear fenders rolled and that is it. Sold the rpf1's, now on a set of te37sl.

Did you rub on big dips by any chance?

for RPF fitment, they come in 17x9 +22, +35 and 17x9.5 +18 and +38. If you take the latter approach on either size, just run a spacer up front. The issue you will have is in the rear with anything below +25ish so running the higher offset variants gives you a bit more flexibility since you can also run a small spacer if need be to avoid inboard rubbing. I would stay with a 255/40 if you go with either size. If you want to be aggressive you can step up to a 265/40 but they are available in limited brands. The optimal size for a 9.5 is a 265 but some folks even push 275/40s. I always say go with the higher offset variants because once you commit to the lower offsets you are "stuck" cannot increase offset. So rolling in the rear becomes mandatory. All of the offsets above have the same face that Zuppy's Evo which is a good thing.

Lastly but more important, ride height, camber settings and tire size will play a role in all of this.

Two other wheels in this size to consider in similar price range are also Wedssport TC105Ns 17x9 +25, 17x9.5 +32 and GramLights 17x9 +22, +38. The Wedssports do not require any spacers. The Gramlights +38 require spacer up front.

With regard to spacer size... research it here on the forum. All of the wheels I mentioned, people have run on their Evos at one point or another.

Rolling the rears is not a big deal, unless you are strictly against it. But it is recommended especially when running the lower offsets since you will experience rubbing.

The rear is the bigger challenge to get to fit, and as others have said, it depends on tire choice and camber. I don't think any sensible tire choice for a 17x9 +22 mm will clear the rear fender without a roll. Perhaps a 235/45 tire on a 17x9 +25 mm might clear the rear fender. Based on my own experience, I can say with certainty that a 255/40 with +32 mm offset and -1.5 deg camber will clear the rear fender by about 3 mm. So perhaps a +30 mm offset will work, but it will be very close.

Also, low offset wheels increase the scrub radius which in turn causes the car to pull more strongly on things like wheel ruts. Best to stick with an offset that's as close as possible to stock (+38 mm).
