I am interested. I wanted the HIDs on my 05 GSR but didn't want to spring for the whole sun, sound, and leather package. This sounds like a lot better deal.

EVIL MR Jan 31, 2005 06:10 PM

any body use them????????????

Gruppe-S Jan 31, 2005 06:16 PM

Yes! A lot of WRX guys are using them especially since the introductory of the new age Imprezas :)

will the HID's be available for the foglights as well as the high beams?

lookslikeanevo Feb 1, 2005 12:32 AM

I have had this kit on my lancer for almost a year and i love it.....i have 6500k for the temp....hardest thing to do is find a place for the balasts and igniters....everything else should be plug and play...have fun!

high beams?...if you use seperate bulbs for lows and highs then...obviously you wont looswe your high beams...but if you were refering to havinh HID's as your high beams..then no!,,, Hids are not good for flickering and what not,.

Hi guys,

We're lucky to be able to still offer you the Helios HID line. The reason is the Helios manufacturer was recently selected by Phillips to OEM the Phillips ballasts for asian distribution. That's right, the Helios ballasts are the same ones used in the Phillips kits. Because of this the manufacturer is basically running at 110-120% production just to keep up with demand. They've cut most of their small volume dealers, but because of our special relationship with Helios we're still able to get these.

We've sold a lot of HID kits before, these are the best kits we've seen in a long time. Excellent stability, quick ignite times, extremely bright, and a low failure rate. :)

Thanks,

Gary

Yeah like Samsung and LG. I suppose that you think all of their products are junk though too...

Gruppe-S Feb 1, 2005 12:35 PM

The manufacturer of this kit is actually subcontracting to make kits for Phillips HID kits as well. So the quality of this kit is very top notch. :)

ERGO EVO Feb 8, 2005 11:36 PM

Cool, how would you compare these lights to stock EVO HIDs in terms of performance, intensity, flicker, appearance, etc??

lookslikeanevo Feb 8, 2005 11:54 PM

well...its gets pretty close...but, still no projector....but its really nice and bright...no flickering, performance...ummm....its bright?.....

Gruppe-S Feb 13, 2005 10:50 PM

looks, Thanks for the knowledgeable infos and explanation.

thatsMR2u Feb 14, 2005 12:12 PM

just a heads up all MRs came with hids, and i'm pretty sure there are 2 different kinds of hids ones that are made for cars that already come with HID projectors and hids that are made for non hid projectors or normal headlights, (for instance older higher end acuras)

Yeah, that has to do with the masking in the bulb itself. D2S is for projector housing, while D2R is for reflector housing. These are the only types of actual HID bulbs made. All retrofit kits have these bulbs, they're just rebased to fit a different type of housing . I.E. 9006, 9005, H11...etc. As long as the QC is good, they should last just as long as OEM HID's (which I understand Helios is).

The 6000k and 6500k's look great in person. I saw some of these at Helios' booth at SEMA this past November. Gruppe-S is also a great shop.

See here for all your HID FAQ's (very informative):

http://faqlight.carpassion.info/headlamp-faq.htm {thumbup}

To clarify, you guys DO have H11 kits? Will you have D2S bulbs available as well at the same Kelvin? I'd like to get my low beams to match my fogs, when I upgrade. TIA.

Edit: I know it says 2/11, but is this still available? Or will something like this be available again in the future?
