how is the wear on those pulleys? They dont look to be hard anodized. At least I have yet to have seen a "clear" hard anodizing process.

Is a new belt required if you were to only go with the crankshaft pulley? If so, how much for the belt?

Dude, someone correct me if im wrong, but since when did adding a flywheel make horsepower, let alone that much horsepower??? :dunno:

Im calling BS on this one.

It doesn't add horsepower it feels it up from the crank. It works your car will rev alot faster also.

Serge03 Jan 28, 2004 11:44 AM

decreasing any rotational mass, whether it is engine, wheels, etc, will add to the performance of the car, given that it is identical size. A lightened flywheel will decrease the rotational mass of the drivetrain, increasing the ability for the engine to rev quicker, and lose revs faster upon deceleration.

Sizing will either benefit or hinder the performance of an engine. These pullys for example are decreased in diameter, therefore slightly reducing effeciency to where it is attached, thus increasing the engines ability to put power to the ground.

I understand that, but that doesnt mean it adds horsepower to the car. Rotational mass at the flywheel has to do with now fast the engine revs, how fast the engine decelerates, and how much energy is able to get stored at the flywheel, but none of this changes the horsepower figures at all.

Actually Serge is right. It will not increase horsepower just free up horsepower and put more down to the wheels. A good way to put it is like taking weight out of the car, Doesnt increase horsepower at the crank but increase quickness and make more wheel horsepower.

There is no wear life on the pulleys. They are underdriven so you need to replace the belt, which is approx $4 at napa or anyother parts store.

Aby@MIL.SPEC Feb 4, 2004 04:20 AM

Whats the PN on that $4 replacement belt that you recomend @ NAPA?

gldenchld Feb 4, 2004 08:28 AM

It comes in the box when you order the pulley. Feel free to call me at anytime
