A better tune? You clearly aren't familiar with Sean Ivey's work...

^^^ You have to be kidding.

My IVEYTUNED EVO X ran 12.3@110 with absolutely no bolt on mods, weight reduction or anything. Just an amazing tune. The car only dynoed 312whp on his dynojet also.

Lets see what you got when you take it to the track. Trap speeds dont lie.

Very nice results for just bolt ons! I'm hoping to see the same once I tune to 11.5 AFR.

I'm starting to really wonder the motivation behind Mitsubishi's stock tuning of the car. Purposely detuning it to keep it under 300 BHP or what? ~11.5 AFR (still a rich mixture that more than adequately cools any engine) isn't going to cause any longevity problems ever.

I am not trying to knock DG motors in any way shape or form with my following remarks. When you make a comment like this, I think its fair to ask some inteligent and respectful questions about what you mean.

Of course price is a factor which is always important in any purchase. What is the price and what are you getting for your money? I know that Sean and myself use Ecutek Evo X tuning platform which provides some features which IMHO make it a superior platform for tuning, e.g. full data logging and charting, live map tracing on lamba and knock. And a lot of technical support from the UK. Using these tools we have been able to tune Evo X's for over a full year and have been at it for some time. Sure, there is a nominal licensing fee assciated with the use of Ecutek but in my professional opinion the extra fee is justified by the additional tuning functions and tools.

Also, Sean and myself support the Cobb Evo X Pro tuner, again a very feature rich platform for tuning and which has additonal features and functions and of course which do cost an additional fee.

So when comparing price on tuning an Evo X you must first ask what tuning product is being used. Then an inteligent comparision can be made abut which price represents a better value.

Its amazing how the performance consumer often fails to ask very important questions when choosing a tuner or performance facility. Also, the expectations of the customer and observations about success and failure of the services often revolve around the fixation on dyno numbers. This is even more bizarre when you conisder that many dynos are end user adjustable.

I think its fair game to explore the expereince and qualifications of a tuner and ask what they have done and what are their qualifications.

When you are asserting that you can "get a better tune" at this other facility what do you mean by that ?

Are you saying that he can make more power at the other facility's dyno?

Are you saying that the car will run smoother and more reliable and last longer than the other facilities work?

Carry on

Al

i cant tell you how much I stand behind sean ivey and his work. For me its not so much about the numbers but the customer service. If I am spending all this money, communication is key. Sean is the best at getting back to you and going the extra mile. He def went out of his way to get me set up last min for bullrun and was honest about what could and couldnt get done. For both my evos, its going to be sean all the way, not even a question!
