AlphaX's 453whp 92 octane EF4

AlphaX brought us his clean 22k mile 2010 in for some work today. The car has been on e85 and the stock turbo since last September making 370whp but he wanted more. Adding a few key ingredients was the plan for making 450whp.

The car already had the following mods-

ETS 3.5" FMIC and piping
ETS testpipe
AMS Widemouth Downpipe
AMS intake
ID1000s
DW65 fuel pump
Invidia single exit cat back

This was where were at last time it was on the dyno-

Today we added an EF4 and MAP O2 dump which has a 2.0" dump tube for maximum flow. Initially we were hoping to run the car on E85 and make the 450whp goal at lower boost. However the ID1000s and DW65 sadly were not up to the task and will need replaced. It did give a glimmer of what the car should be able to do in the long run though on E85-

Above 7300 the onboard WB had made its way to 12.4 and was on the way up. I chopped as fast as I could but still logged a 13.0 before it stopped. 127% IDC for those that are wondering.

The decision was made to put the car back on 92 octane and hope for the best, so at 530 TJ and I rolled it off and got to work completely draining the tank. A drive up the street for a full tank of some Chevron 92 and we were back on the dyno.

A few pulls later the results speak for themselves-

Here is the before (stock turbo) to now on the EF4 showing both spool and power differences-

This should keep Kilo happy for a bit, at least until we get the fuel system sorted out and back on E85

Nice! 450 on just pump and minimal mods, that's pretty respectable! Looks like one ~24psi only?

Pretty awesome for such minimal mods! What size injectors are you guys thinking? Does anyone make a 1600ish CC injector for X's?

I was gonna say cause I've seen guys with bigger turbos use ID1000's

From my personal experience, DW hasn't been any good to lots of us in So Cal. I know your not new to the game but also check the Fuel Pump Relay =)

Either way it is impossible to support any upgraded stock frame turbo on e85 on anything less than 1300cc injectors...... Like I said even with dual pumps and 1100's I had 120% duty cycle by 7k on a Fp green

On an 8/9, 1000s and a single 255 are good for 440whp pretty easy on E85. I have actually made 490whp total on a drag race only tune (13.0 AFR at 8k) . I cant imagine a proper working DW65 and ID1000s (really a 900cc injector) cant make more than 400whp without going static.

How much top end would this thing pick up with s2 cams? Nice power for little mods.

Ya with 2 pumps on the green I made like 420 MD. Now I have an fp black and will be running a surge tank setup and 2150's I am shooting for around 525-550 MD on e85 in a RA

man I like the low tq with such a nice hp.

so if I am reading this right its 4200-4300rpm full boost?

7800redline?

I am trying to figure out what turbo to get next

either the EF series or just slap a bigger turbo on the stock engine

It comes down to what you want, and what your plans are for the car? Anyone can throw turbo Ideas out to you but if you plan on DD/AutoX then I highly doubt you'd want a 6767 on your car... LOL

If you want stock like spool but more top end power compared to stock then EF2/2.5 and Even a EF3 would be nice.
